When is a nut not a nut? When it is walnut. The walnut is a seed of the drupe or stone fruit. My dear pets, the world of botany is fascinating, and sometimes you learn that what you thought you knew about food is not what it is at all. I know some of you love walnuts to eat—and squirrels, I know you love to store these for the winter. Some of you like to put walnuts into baked goods—and some of you enjoy playing with them. The walnut being quite round can make a fun toy to roll across a floor—and it makes a satisfying sound, especially if that floor is made of wood. So, whether you eat walnuts or just play with them, they are an important part of this incredible world.

Frank the Pig's newest creation. Straight from the tree! Eat them up fast, they have been known to fly away!

Grown underground and hidden underground, the humble peanut rarely sees the light of day. Red squirrels love these crunchy delicacies so much that they dig them up before they are ripe and hide them in their middens. Fortunately, badgers, with their keen sense of smell, can help you find peanut plants growing deep in the forest; but you have to be quick to harvest them before the squirrels do.

Frank the pig, a renowned research chemist, has found a way to graft animal DNA onto plants, resulting in his "bacon tree" and various other developments. Frank didn't have the capital to develop this idea on his own, so the other pigs, who saw they had most to gain by supporting him, raided their piggy banks to come up with the money. They have thus formed a syndicate known as "Frank 'n' Swine". They are now the proud owners of "Frank 'n' Swine Foods", growers of bacon trees, pork shrubs and gammon carrots. Since this development, all animals in PnF have agreed to stop killing and eating one another, with the exception of worms. Worms have a brain at each end. They have become more intelligent, along with the other animals, since the animals developed their skills, and having two brains is now giving them severe schizophrenia. So they come up out of the ground and beg some animal to eat one end of them or the other, just as soon as the two ends have a major falling out. Anyhow; bacon tastes nice, it now grows on trees, and no pigs were harmed in the course of bringing you this bacon. Pigs eat quite a lot of bacon themselves now, partly for sheer relief and partly because it even tastes good to pigs. As long as it grows on trees.

Sometimes you need a snack that's both substantial and easily portable. That's where I come in. I'm perfect for lunch boxes, too.
