But I really come into my own at certain times of the year, when I am used as a lavender awareness raising ribbon, for some very important causes, such as: cancer; epilepsy, hypokalemic periodic paralysis and Rett syndrome (to name just a few). If you know of other causes that I represent, I would love to showcase them in your art!

One day, a particularly talented penguin decided to make a very special shape. She had a stock of hexagons and pentagons that nobody seemed to want, so she fitted them together until they all joined up perfectly and I was created. I get my name because I'm the same shape as a carbon molecule called buckminsterfullerene, but I'm not proud. If you want to use me as a football, go right ahead!
