Hi. My name is Scaredy Cat. If I looked scared, it's probably because I am. But often, when I'm scared, it's because I don't always do well with things outside of my comfort zone. And the main reason for that is because I was diagnosed as having Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am the first cat to have autism.
I am learning how to cope with the unknown and with things that make me nervous or afraid. I have a super support network - including my BFF, Bob the Blue Scaly Monster. Yes - he's my BFF and I am thankful for him.
I'm learning some coping skills so that I when I'm facing new situations, I don't get so upset or want to run and hide. One of the things that helps is my service dog, JJ. She is always there when I really need some reassurance.
I do like to go on adventures, despite the fact that they can be scary sometimes. If you join me, maybe we can support each other in those scary moments and find a way to have a great time!

Well if you were expecting one of those smiling, cheery, happy and singing bears let me tell you - you have come to the wrong place! I have a grumps on! There is no cute little symbol on my belly. And I wasn’t a popular bear in the 80’s. And I have run out of bamboo! It is like the Monday-est of Monday wannabes going today. So I am just going to cross my arms, pout and sulk.

It is such a hard life being a cute and adorable panda cub. Not only am I so sweet but I must expend ever so much energy foraging for food. It is exhausting. I need to eat so much every day so I can grow healthy and strong. So really it is true. If you don’t catch me eating chances are you will find me sleeping. Nestled in ever so comfily, please bring me a blanket and would you please leave a nightlight on?

It’s the perfect plan! If I just sit here looking cute and cuddly everyone will bring me all the treats I could ever want. If I just cock my head like so. Maybe bat an eye or two. I wonder if I can purr. Humans like animals that purr. PURRRR….If I get it all just right, just so! Then I know I will be showered with bamboo.

This hot weather truly is getting to me. Don’t mind if I take a little rest here in the shade. Just a 15 minute penguin nap should do. I know I should be grateful that I am not freezing my tail feathers off but this heat just leaves me with no energy. I want to dance but it seems all I can do each day is eat and sleep. Would you please turn on a fan? I could use the white noise to help doze off.

I’m such a sad lil penguin. Won’t you please take me home? I recently learned that some humans insist upon calling us African penguins by a not so nice name for donkeys. Sniff sniff. Apparently they think that our calls to fellow colony members sound like a braying donkey. How rude! We are penguins! Not donkeys! Sheesh! So I am just looking for a nice home where I will be appreciated for who I am.

Hot sand! Hot Sand! Hot Sand! OK, so who had the brilliant idea to transplant us from the frigid barren desert of Antarctica to this hot and sometime humid climate of Africa? Was it you? I’m looking at you! I’m melting my tail feathers off! Next time can we please try for something a lil more temperate? Like Canada? At least they get four seasons…even if it is all in one day.

Standing atop the hillside here I can see dawn breaking in the distance. Soon my duties of the night will be complete for another day. I look down over the lands of PnF and breathe a sigh of relief knowing that yet again everypet is safe and secure; comfy and toasty and ready for a new day. I take my responsibilities very seriously as not many could do as I. It is a great honour that has been bestowed upon me and I intend to respect it. Sleep well PnF and enjoy the new day to come.

As the sun goes down I come alive with speed and energy! Very few can keep up with me for I run and run and run spreading glitter everywhere I go. And to think people still question where the stars come from. As everyone else rests I keep them safe and secure checking up on them and keeping any ghosts at bay. Those mystical hooves you hear in your dreams, well, they just may be me pulling up your covers and tucking you in.

It has been a rather long night and I must rest. While all the other pets in PnF are asleep I am out prancing around, spreading magic and keeping guard. Now as the sun rises I finally can sit. Maybe even have a nibble or two of some tasty treats. I need regain my energy as there is much to do as dusk approaches yet again.

Ooh, I’ve almost got it! Can you give me a paw? Oh, no, there it goes again! That little tail of mine, well, I have been chasing that for quite some time. We tabby cats know how to blend in, and enjoy quiet fun, but the thing that eludes us, is capturing the nefarious tail! It’s there and then it’s gone! Yet it’s always following me around. I must snatch it! I must!

Well, hello there! They call me a tabby cat, do you know why? It’s French, ooh lala! Meaning striped, and look at these lovely stripes of mine. Honestly, the real benefit of being a grey tabby? I blend seamlessly into the night, keeping tabs on all the neighborhood shenanigans. Slinking around on silent paws, keeping the peace and when the delicate balance is about to top over, there I am popping out of the dark of night, giving a swat to anyone out of line. And when I need reinforcements, why I just plop my furry bottom on the fence and sing the song of my people! Care to join me?

Are you ready? Put on your cat suit and I’ll be happy to teach you all my cat moves! Sitting for hours is tough! You would think it was a no brainer, but maintaining stationary poses are hard. You’ll see that little dust mote float by, but you have to resist that urge to swat. Next we’ll work on shedding. Controlling when you let the fur fly is key to maximum clothing coverage. After that we’ll follow up with demanding creamy milk. Getting just the right pitch down, to ensure your hooman gets right up out of the couch to pour your favorite liquid into the bowl. Finally, a little lesson on slow blinking. See, I’ve got it down!

I am the most majestic creature of the seas. Who could be more royal that I - a lilac dolphin! After all, purple is a colour of royalty and us dolphins are beyond intelligent. We may even have those silly humans beat! So, along I swim, nodding to my royal subjects as I go. How adored am I!

In showing my worth, my dignity, my superiority I raise my head high up toward the sky. Look at me my loyal subjects of the seas! Place a crown atop my head and adore my shine. What?!?! Who said place a clown nose?!?!

It is always a grand thing to have royalty put on a show for you. Usually it must go the other way around. However, today I am so thrilled and excited I cannot contain myself. Therefore I leap with joy and swim with grace. I have found a new home where I will be loved and revered for the royalty I am. No more of this clown nose nonsense. Hmpf!

Whaaaat?!?! So you woke up to find your refrigerator raided and the baseboards chewed and you are accusing sweet innocent me? Never! Oh, so you want to post online about your discoveries? Well good luck with that, teehee. I see something has cut the cable in half *wink wink* Whaaaat?!? Now you say you are going to call someone about me? Sheesh! It’s almost as if you didn’t trust me. And good luck with making your cal…shoot! Wireless!

Hmmm….I think I smell something delightful in the air. Might it be that Frank is cooking again? Perhaps his famous carrot and parsley muffins and a cup of peppermint tea? Yay! Oh so wonderful. Sniff sniff…hmmm….the air is changing. I think it is getting a little acrid. Oh dear, I fear that was actually Bob trying to cook.

Shhh! Be very, very quiet! I am hiding from Bob! He attempted to replicate Frank’s carrot and parsley muffins and he wants me of all people to be his first vict…test subject! I must hide and listen carefully in case he starts to come this way. Maybe he will find a Charcoal Hare or two to subject to his cooking.

Training quietly as a yogini, I am now holding classes! So grab your mat, and a bottle of water, we’ll be starting with simple stretches. It’s important to keep your joints flexible, and balance is good for your core strength and bones. Lay flat on your back and arms and legs out, stretching and reaching, flexing your feet. Tuck your knees to your chest and out! And in, and out. Now, tucking your knees to your chest, gently rock back and forth, stretching out your lower back. Great! Now, on to teach you warrior one!

Slowly closing my eyes, I sit and meditate on life and all it’s chaos. Breathing deeply in and out, I can feel the exhale slowly draining the stress out, and breathing in peace and prayers. Try it with me!

Gazing off to the distance, softening my gaze just a bit, I slowly transition from downward dog to warrior 3. Slowly I put all four paws back to the floor. Yoga always helps me with my balance, inner and outer. A smooth flow helps my practice, changing from one pose to another, remembering to breathe deeply.

Come here! It looks like you could use a hug. I am a champion hugger. I even have a plaque hanging on my wall. So let’s give you a quick boost of oxytocin and dampen down that stress and sadness. There is nothing quite like a quick hug to make you feel loved and appreciated.

What do you mean you can’t fly? Why that’s a tragedy! Everypet should have wings. Ok, so some do. But not you. Huh. Well, just grab onto my scales, climb aboard and hold on tight! I can glide you through the forest on silent wings or maybe you’d rather sail over the sea? No matter where we go, I’m sure you’re going to love the view from up here.

Oh, what’s a dragon to do? Napping is such a chore. But it’s gotta happen, or mom says so. Honestly, I think it’s for her sanity, and not because I’m tired. Really (yawn), I’m not that tired. Ok, maybe just a little bit (yawn). Lie down beside me and catch some zzzz’s with me.

I’m not going to do anything at all today. Nope, not one thing. I’m going to settle in with my colored pencils and coloring book and de-stress. Or maybe just read a book, or watch a good movie. Come join my on the sofa, there’s plenty of room.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is for me to sit still? I am aching to leap about and chase butterflies and dragonflies through what they think is tall grass, but is for me, just green toe ticklers. Being a Great Dane is the best. My tongue is so long, I could slurp you from your tummy to your forehead in one small lick. It’s also easy for me to reach counter tops where I can partake of morsels than hoomans think are safely stored.

Give me a big open field to run because my stride is so huge, it doesn’t take me long at all to get to where I want to go. Whilst every other pet is scampering toward the picnic table, I know they are possibly in for some disappointment because I can get there much quicker and I can hoover the treats in before any of them can blink. It’s not that I am greedy, it’s just that I am large and my appetite is just a wee tad bigger than most pets. You do understand, don’t you?

Just look at my long sleek neck, my beautiful floppy ears and my mischievous grin. I am a gentle giant so if I am standing still, now is the time to enlist my help to reach those forbidden places that I can see, but you can only imagine. Climb up and take a ride if you dare. Hold on tight because when I start running my powerful legs leap high. Last night I was dreaming and I think I managed to fit one pet wrapped around my neck, three along my back, one rode on my tail and believe it or not one pet was able to ride on my head. I know we all had lots of fun.

There is a perfectly good reason why I am sitting. You see I can’t actually move. I ate and ate and now I have blown right up, almost like a balloon and my feet won’t touch the ground. I found a particularly good patch of seeds and filled my cheeks to the brim. Actually, I filled my tummy first and then carried the rest back in my cheeks for later on. But later on came quicker than I imagined and I just had to eat them there and then. He he, yes you can laugh, but right now I will just sit here and wait until my feet touch the ground again.

I can keep you entertained for hours. Give me a wheel and I will run as I spin it. As the wheel is spinning and I am running, the waistline is getting thinner. That’s good news. It means I can stuff my face with more food. I think running and eating are my two favourite pastimes. So, if you think about it, I am a cute and cuddly, running, eating, entertainment machine. Only I am not really a machine. I am a hamster. A brown hamster. A brown hamster with little pink feet. Did I tell you that I think I am gorgeous?

Do you think I look chubby in this outfit? It’s difficult for me to see my feet but I know they are poking out below somewhere. I saw my reflection in the pond the other day and I have to tell you that I liked what I saw. Nice rounded cheeks, lovely rounded body. I would make a good cuddly pet, provided you give me the opportunity to eat as many seeds and vegies as possible. If you want me to hop in a wheel and spin, spin, spin, then keep the meals coming or I will get too thin, thin, thin!

I am ready for my photo shoot! Is your camera out? I know it is going to be a long hard day of looking pretty and strutting my stuff but I am up for the job. Gotta earn those GMs somehow you know. I just hope that backdrops you have chosen allow my gorgeous feathers to shine to their fullest. No winter scenes if you know what I mean. A pair of random eyes peeking out of a snowbank would not do me justice at all. Now let’s talk about that lighting situation…

It’s in the eyes. Just look at mine and I will mesmerize you with their sparkle. You know you can’t resist me because I am so cute. My coat is soft and silky, did you know? During the day I like to curl my silver tipped tail into my body and rest so that in the evenings I can stealthily hunt for food. My keen sense of hearing might give me that extra minute or two of rest because I won’t miss anything. Meat is my favourite food but I can survive on just about anything, so bring on the treats and I will love you forever.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the cutest fox of all? Me of course. I know I should be resting but I can’t resist sitting here and looking at myself. Today I am wearing my beautiful shawl which accents my soft silky fur. What a wonderful addition I would make to your pet family. Take me home and I can adorn the back of your couch. My feet are lovely and padded, so you won’t hear me wandering around at night.

Now I do like this angle when looking in the mirror. I would have to be the cutest, most dazzling silver fox of all time. I have everything that makes me attractive. Soft silky fur, the most amazing silver tip on my tail and I can wear a silver cape around my neck. If that is not enough to make you want to take me home and cuddle me, then look into my big bright eyes and you will be spell bound.

Being cradled in your arms is purrrfect! Just look in my bright blue eyes…I’ve mastered the puppy dog look when I want something, even though I’m a feline so it’s quite hard for you to say no to me! I like to play and nap, as long as I’m with you. I’m a very happy kitty, but I’m happiest when I am with my human. So let’s play a game! That string will do just fine! I’ll run around and catch that string, and when we’re both tired, we can rest on the couch, snuggled up to each other, okay?

Baaaaa! Sprightly Spring Lamb blinks in the bright sunlight. So many new things to smell and taste and see. What are these colourful scented things on the ground, Mama? Fl-ow-ers. Munch! Munch! They taste pretty. Ouch! Why did that buzzing black and yellow thing bite me? Maaa-maaa! What means I ate its home? I won’t go near that thing again. Whaaaa!

Oh, what’s moving over there? Bounce! Bounce! Wait, there are more of them. Long-eared hoppity-hop-hops. That’s a good name for them. What are they eating? Crunch! Crunch! Carr-rr-rrots taste even better than fl-ow-ers, and the stingy stingers don’t seem to like them. I like carr-rr-rrots, Mama, and I like the hoppity-hop-hops. They don’t ouch. Rabb-bbits? Oh, and there are little ones that want to play. A hop and bounce game? Oh, yes. Just what I need to strengthen my legs.

Badgers are normally secretive creatures who are happiest in the quiet and solitude of night. Whilst digging extensions to their setts, they often find jewels and other odd things, but they are mostly content to live in family groups, enjoying each other's company; wealth means little to them. When PnF was founded, a rumour spread through the pets that a spirit-badger had created the world in which they lived. Suddenly badgers were getting all kinds of visiting creatures wanting to know how the game of life should be played, what the Great Badger had planned for the future and whether all should eat worms in their efforts to be like Him. Badgers responded in one of two ways. Some retreated further into their setts for fear that anyone might find out about their jewels, in which case they would never have any peace. Others accepted the challenge and went into the world as prophets, seeking to understand the rules of the game and to enlighten others as they strove to comprehend the thoughts of their creator, in whose image they had been made.

Over time, I changed, becoming one of the largest of the butterflies, but through all my transformation, my heart has always belonged to the flowers. A tireless fourth generation traveller, I have just returned from my winter vacation in Mexico and am ready to help you grow the best plants you have ever seen! With my help your fruits and veggies are sure to excel! I happily visit every plant; as I flit and float from flower to flower, I might also land on the ears or noses of your pets when they are not watching! Not only do I pollinate each plant, I also collect small threads of each colourful petal which I spin into silken embroidery floss. Using my antennae, I embroider lovely hankies and pillowcases like those your grandma used to have. My deepest pleasure is to recreate my travels in beautiful embroideries and wall hangings. I live my life surrounded by beauty.
