When my great, great grandfather was a wee faring lad, he decided that he needed something spectacular and shiny to dazzle the bonny lass, Angelina, my not quite yet great, great grandmother. While skipping merrily along the boardwalk, my great, great grandfather, whose name was Malcom, by the way, found a small, dusty shoppe with mice scurrying about in the dirty plate window. Now, Malcom was not a man of great wealth, so finding the right gift to woo Angelina would be tricky! So he jiggled the door knob, found it open and started looking for a treasure! And low and behold, there in the back corner, were the most beautiful ornaments of burgundy anyone (or pet) had beheld! Dickering with the mice for some imported cheeses and a little GM, he bagged up his treasures and went merrily on his way.

Malcom was raised in a group home, and now that he was an adult, liked to treat the other kids still living in the grand old house, and snuck into the house at night to "help Santa" with some treasures he found in his travels. Why, repurposing somepet's garbage made some happy smiles on Christmas morning! But he felt that he still didn't have quite enough to woo Angelina, and kicked his heels and with a new energy, went seeking for the special gift.

While out doing the dreaded neccessary shopping and searching for the elusive 'perfect' gifts, Malcom stopped into the local coffee shop for cookies and cocoa. Nodding off from the warm shoppe ambiance, he could have sworn that the little gingerbread cookies jumped up and did an Irish jig before running off! He was convinced he was dreaming until he snapped awake and realized his cookies were gone and he didn't have any aftertaste of gingerbread....

After accidentally dropping his brand new JPhone in a puddle, he wandered into the nearest electronics store to get a new one, when he was tickled to see that among the rows and aisles of all things cellphones, there were some beautiful handcrafted Robin ornaments. Malcom asked who made these little beauties but the elfin clerk just didn't know.

With the new JPhone tucked in his vest pocket and encased in a new BotterBox, (waterproof!), Maclom came across Count the Piggle Bassist jamming on the corner, with his silk top hat on the sidewalk for donations. Malcom was still scraping up funds trying to cross off all the shopping on his list, but an artist is worth their craft, and he dropped a few GM and a handful of SM into the hat. Count wailed out a snazzy thank you, and Malcom found a new swing in his step and hope in his heart that things would work out.

My great, great grandfather was generous to a fault, and despite all the hours he spent in the dark factory, building water pumps to be shipped all over the world, he never really made all the ends meet. But it didn't stop him from daydreaming about a tropical honeymoon once Angelina accepted his proposal. And what did he spy when eyeing the map on the far wall of the travel agency? Beautiful ornaments! Some like what he had already and some were new! Oh how he hoped she would like them!

All pets and hoomans were always drawn to him, and a stranger was just someone who he hadn't spent a few minutes with, after that, they were friends! And Ted E Bear was just one of the friends Malcom made and took home to the group, making sure no one was ever alone, espcially at the holiday!

Early the next morning, Malcom's boss said he needed some volunteers for a special job assignment, and Malcom jumped at the chance to do something different! What a surprise it was when he heard that he and a few friends would be doing maintenance on the pump at the well at the town square where they put on the Live Nativity!

There was a small booth vendor near the fire hydrant, selling star ornaments in a glorious sparking red, and some vintage skeleton keys. Malcom picked up the old keys as well as the ornaments, he thought they just might fit some of the crazy old doors at the group home.

Malcom was strutting in his mustard yellow elf suit when he thought he better check in with his friends at the Santa training camp after putting in a hard day work at the pump factory. The elfin helpers were already a few cups into their grog when Malcom got there and joined the holiday glee. Some good teasing and ribbing bolstered Malcom's confidence that he got the right outfit for his "Santa" duties, and he strutted off to find more gifts!

The group home held their annual gingerbread house competition and Malcom's team took home the grand prize! Here's a picture with him and his elfin buddies who crewed the build. The judges really gave them first place because it was an actual gingerbread house that everypet could live in. Malcom was hoping that it would be his new home with his love, Angelina!

Malcom presented the lovely Angelina with the basket of hand crafted ornaments, professing his love for her! He waited impatiently for Angelina to declare his gifts her favorite, but instead she explained that Malcom was her favorite. She said in a tone of wonder that she was the creator and crafter of all the specialized ornaments that Malcom bought her, and that if he could find the beauty of her crafts as appealing as she did, they had truly found true love! And with a resounding YES, Malcom and Angelina were engaged on Christmas Eve.
