@ Scarlet Pathway
Poca Pola and Chipilona are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!

As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

@ Illusion of Nightfall
Poca Pola opened her rucksack to change her hat. Lucky could see Poca Pola had a baseball cap, a sombrero, a beret, a straw boater, a cricket cap, a sou'wester, a large, floppy sunhat and a pith helmet!
“Did you bring a mortarboard too?” Lucky asked Poca Pola.
Illusion of Nightfall
Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
“Let’s pose with one of us at each side and I’ll set the self-timer to take a shot,” said Poca Pola to Milagros. “It’ll be a wonderful souvenir of our time here!”

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
Poca Pola was in a hurry to move along and shake some more paws, but b-rok decided to stay where he was for a while, and sketch the scenery for this week's Art Challenge!

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
“What an amazing view!” exclaimed Poca Pola after shaking paws with Esmeralda, who agreed with her. Poca Pola was excited to meet up again with Esmeralda. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
Bluey~* greeted Poca Pola cheerily, recommending she expended some silver moles on the fresh harvest food before them.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
Batty and Poca Pola shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“These make a fine display, don’t they, Poca Pola?” said Nightlight, when she and Poca Pola had shaken paws.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
“I’m going to try growing these at home!” announced Poca Pola, after she and Strawberry Daiquiri had tucked into some yummy organic harvest food!

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Poca Pola.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Oscar.

@ Chili Peppers in Basket
Nano and Poca Pola, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Poca Pola. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Olivia and Poca Pola shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
Poca Pola tumbled out of the Autumn Experience tourist bus, almost flattening Gulliver in the process, then she wondered where the muffled groans were coming from!

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

@ Sunset Field
"Hermione, just take a look all around you and breathe deeply! Get that good fresh air in your lungs! Does it get any better than this?" asked Poca Pola, who had just met Hermione at this Autumn Experience stop.

@ Purple Rose Bouquet
"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Spot.
"Well," said Poca Pola, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Poca Pola to fancy.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

"This is a glorious specimen, DaiDai", observed Poca Pola. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Poca Pola?" said DaiDai. "Buy a garden gnome!"

“Shall we take a selfie?” Poca Pola asked BoBo as they drank in the peaceful scene and admired each other’s purchases of harvest produce.

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Puff.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Poca Pola. "Is he on this tour?"

“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Poca Pola to Kia.

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

Poca Pola had to travel on alone, as Bahama declared she had found paradise, and had no intention of moving on!

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Poca Pola is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Willow comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Willow. Poca Pola looks down and sees something valuable. Willow generously lets Poca Pola keep it!
