Raju and Fanny are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Fall Fairground North
All the fun of the fair is here to provide your pet with entertainment and thrills, from waterslide to big wheel. And has your pet a strong enough stomach for a death-defying rollercoaster ride? To help restore your pet's equilibrium after all the excitements of the fairground rides, there are stalls selling hot potato snacks, popcorn, toffee apples, candy and delicious cakes and other yummy delights made from the autumn harvest produce! We hope everypet will leave clutching at least one of the fun carnival novelties!

LoyaLloyd met Raju at one of the refreshment stands. LoyaLloyd groaned slightly and clutched his tum. “I’m going to go and sit down for a while first, Raju. I need to recover from that last ride!”

@ Gingerbread Fairings
Raju came up to the snackbar where the vendor was just handing over a very large portion to Midnight Blue. "Gosh, Midnight Blue, you're like those ravenous guinea pigs in Meadowlands! I'd never seen animals eating with such diligence before!"

Fairings is the traditional name for edible souvenirs sold at fairs throughout England. These ginger fairings became associated with Cornish fairs and are still popular in the region.

“Hello again, Raju!” called Willow. “Do you want to join me on this ride?”
“You bet—let me just finish my ice cream!” Willow waited while Raju had the last lick of ice cream and munched the last inch of cornet, then they excitedly queued up for the ride!

Guaca was at the end of the queue for food when Raju joined him. “It’s been a long time since lunch!” said Raju.

Big wheel installations became an icon of World's Fairs and Exhibitions and an example at Earl's Court in London erected in 1894 expressed fine engineering combined with opulence. Meanwhile, across the Pond, George Ferris led the way in big wheel design.

"Just listen to that old fairground pipe organ, Seth!" said Raju. "I love the painted figures, especially the conductor keeping time at the front. You can hear the music all over the fairground!"
"It certainly adds to the atmosphere," said Seth. "Hey, the ride's about to start! Let's see if we can hear the music from the top!"

The world's oldest roller coasters descended from specially constructed hills of snow in the gardens of palaces around the Russian capital, St Petersburg, in the 18th century. The slides were built to a height of between 70 ft - 80 ft (21-24 m), had a 50 degree drop. These slides became popular with the Russian upper class."Russian mountains" remains the term for roller coasters in many languages, such as Spanish (la montaña rusa), Italian (montagne russe), and French (les montagnes russes). Ironically, the Russian term for roller coaster, "amerikanskie gorki", translates literally as "American mountains."

"This is fabulous, zora" enthused Raju. "I'm going to buy one of these and display it next to my ceramic puffin that I got in the little gift shop near Snow Beach and the framed print of red poppies from L'île Mystère!"
"You'll have a fine collection of mementos, Raju!" said zora.

Fala got carefully down from the ride, stumbling slightly and holding tightly onto the sides. "I say, you do look a bit green, Fala, old thing!" said Raju. "I'm reminded of when you got seasick on our Crocodile Creek trip!"
"I was not seasick," said Fala with dignity. "I had merely eaten something that disagreed with me."

As sunset falls, you enjoy the ever-changing view as you chug a little further upwards and then pause as each pod takes on its precious cargo of pets eager to enjoy the ride. Then when all the pods are full, the wheel starts to turn, building up speed!
