"Oh, wow, Pika! In Copenhagen we'll be going to a bright pink café called Unicorns & Rainbows! It serves ice cream sprinkled with edible flowers and crumbled meringue, and has its very own pink unicorn on the wall. It says it's the perfect food for unicorns and unicorn hunters alike!"

"According to our tour guide, Ariella, the two oldest amusement parks in the world are in Denmark! How's that for a fun fact? Denmark is home to the world's oldest amusement park, Bakken, as well as the second oldest one, Tivoli Gardens. Bakken is just a short 20 minute train ride from Copenhagen central station and Tivoli Gardens is located just on the opposite side of the street from the station in the centre of Copenhagen."

Did you struggle having to study Hamlet at school? Well, just 45 minutes by train from Copenhagen is a town that will make Elsinore Castle a reality. Helsingør (alternative name Elsinore) is a port in eastern Denmark. Its 15th-century Castle Kronborg provided the setting for Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. The nearby Maritime Museum of Denmark illustrates 600 years of Danish seafaring history.

Travelers will be wowed by the amazing sand artists at the Søndervig festival held at one of Denmark's oldest beach town. Traditional sand sculptures can be found, but the creativity of removing sand, rather than building it, is a beautiful creative flair!

There are 123 villages on the 18 Faroe Islands. Most of the villages are situated near the ocean, which is to be expected from a fishing nation. The houses are close together and most will be colourful though some will be the traditional black. Many houses will also have a turf roof.

"One reason for the Danes' happiness is the importance of hygge, the Danish way of enjoying quality time with friends and family. It can be many things, such as candle-lit dinners, wine, relaxed nights in. It's hard to explain," said Emerald.
"Well, we certainly came across it this time last year in the Huskies, Hijinks and Hygge experience! We had some very cosy chats with all the pets over hot chocolate by the fire every evening in our accommodation!" replied Zuri.

The vibrant green of spring and summer in the Faroe Islands. All the islands are covered by this lush green grass in spring and summer, with the arrival of fall the grass turns into a carpet of brown. A small stream heads under a culvert and goes on its way to the ocean.

"It sounds a bit strange, but the Black Sun is when, each spring and autumn, hundreds of thousands of starlings gather at the Wadden Sea National Park and create incredible patterns in the sky at dusk!"

"You cannot be more than 32 miles (52 km) from the sea anywhere in Denmark," announced Emerald.
"That sounds good for sea-loving pets!" remarked Inukshuk.
Eysturoy, Faroe Islands
East Island, the second largest of the Faroe Islands and another very important bird area. You may recognize this from the James Bond movie No Time To Die, which was filmed starting in 2018. Many locations were used around the Faroe Islands for the movie.

"Did you know LEGO was invented by a Dane, Daba?" queried Emerald. "It was the brainchild of Ole Kirk Christiansen in the town of Billund in 1949."
"I was reading somewhere that LEGO trees and leaves are now made of converted sugarcane plants, not plastic," responded Daba.

Volcanic eruptions over millions of years have built up the Faroe Islands. There are three layers of basalt, a dark grey igneous rock. The formations of basalt are exposed everywhere on the islands and anyone interested in geology is sure to want to pay a visit.

Another fantastic landscape was also used in the Bond film, No Time To Die. When you see stunning scenes like this it is no wonder this location was chosen. The Faroe Islands are made up of 18 major islands and 779 smaller islands, islets and skerries. A skerry is a rock island too small for humans to live on but often used by seabirds as nesting sites.

A highly visible red boat rests on one of the many shores in the Faroe Islands. It could belong to a fisherperson or just a quick way to get around instead of travelling overland. Fishing is the main industry accounting for 96 percent of goods exported.

"It says here that Aarhus is reputed to be Denmark’s happiest city and one can see why on a city break to Aarhus. First of all, it is small, attractive and easy to get around. It’s close to beaches and forests. Plus it’s packed full of cultural events and attractions such as the ARoS Art Museum and the cultural center DOKK1," said Emerald.

Streymoy is the largest island in the Faroe Islands and Saksun is a tiny remote village nestled between high mountains overlooking a circular lagoon. The lagoon was once a harbour but a storm filled the harbour with sand and formed the lagoon which fills with seawater from the Northern Atlantic Ocean, twice a day. A truly stunning place.

Pastel Winter Rainbow
What a delight this rainbow is. How delicate the pastel colours are. These are also sometimes called Sundogs but I don’t find that a very fitting name for these beauties of nature. By whatever name you call these you and your pets will love to explore all the uses you can put these to in your art. They would make a wonderful slide, whee all the way down from a puffy snow cloud. Who wants to go first?
