Episode 1/25

@ Tunnel of Maple Trees
Belle and Wilford are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Amber
Autumn has well been described by Keats as the "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" and pets will here enjoy a ramble through woods with tumbling golden and orange leaves. They can gather hazelnuts, horse chestnuts and fruits, and perhaps forage for mushrooms and dill. Then there are vast fields of wild flowers to explore, and an opportunity to admire the sunset while resting by a rustic barn. Watch your paws or claws crossing the river on the stepping stones—but perhaps splashing in the swirling water is part of the fun!

As you near this autumn realm and hear the thunder of the falls close by, you get to walk through a vividly colorful tunnel of maple leaves with the light of the evening sun at the tunnel's end to attract you further.

"Nothing, Belle. This scene is flawless!"

As you step out of the tunnel of fall-colored leaves, you are greeted with even more beauty to behold as you see flowers silhouetted by the setting sun. Now you know that the day's journey is almost done!

“Shall we take a selfie?” Belle asked Gilda as they drank in the peaceful scene and admired each other’s purchases of harvest produce.

As you look further past where you are now standing, you see a vast farm field to cross with welcoming trees and hillsides awaiting.

@ Picture of the Tunnel of Trees
Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Belle on to get to the next stop on the Autumn Experience. However, Choose a name sat down, insisting on a rest and complaining of blisters!

You pause for a moment to make sure that the pictures you've been taking of your breath-taking journey today have been capturing what your eyes have been seeing. Even though there is so much beauty for just two eyes to take in, you are pleased with your photos thus far, especially of the light at the end of the tunnel of maple trees!

@ Handful of Horse Chestnuts
“Hey, Milo!” called out Belle. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”
Milo was glad to relax and enjoy the food Belle shared with her.

Not only were you enveloped with maple trees, but you also saw some chestnut trees mixed within, and so you grabbed a handful of chestnuts as a souvenir!

@ Bouquet of Fall Flowers
Roy bent down to sniff the flower in front of her but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Roy?” asked Belle.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Roy.

As you left the woods, with another tree line to your left, you noticed some large blooms of wildflowers along the edge of the trees, and so you picked a few to spruce up your room when you settle in later in the evening.

@ Fragile Flowers
Belle gazed at the scene around her in awe, while merlin grumbled a little about Belle's so-called shortcut, if his blisters were anything to go by!

As you continue through the field, you choose to leave the daintier purple flowers alone, simply enjoying their fragrance and their beauty in the evening sun.

@ White Rose and Pink Daisy
"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Tiara Maxwell.
"Well," said Belle, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

With all of the flowers you are admiring, you almost forgot the ones you picked up in the autumn realm of green that morning. You check to be sure they are still fresh - and they are! - and remember that you have a note to fill out for tonight's host.

@ Wild White Mushrooms
Inspired by the sunny day, Shadow said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Belle took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Shadow hastily revised his romantic harvest vision.

Continuing on the path, you notice along the tree line something white. Not sure if you were seeing flowers, you approach and find that they are wild mushrooms, the edible kind, and so you grab a few to add to a possible stew later in the evening!

@ Path Covered by Fallen leaves
Belle and Spirit agreed that the variety of scenery on their Autumn Experience trip was the best ever! They exchanged opinions on which their favourite scene had been so far, and which was the most delicious harvest food they had eaten in their travels!

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Fanny" said Belle. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Belle! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

Belle normally avoided tourist hotspots but she was glad she had come, especially since meeting her friend Benzo here!

As you look to your left, with the waterfall thundering to your right, you see how swiftly the river runs past you as you ensure you have enough stepping stones to get across. One wrong step and you may be staying somewhere further south than you planned!

“This reminds me of Meadowlands,” observed Belle, musing as she and Lily took a moment to admire the produce beside them. “Such a lovely, peaceful scene.”

As you settle in on your second rock in your river crossing, you remember that your host from last night in the autumn realm of green gave you fresh oranges plucked right off of a tree in their own backyard! Time to get refreshed!

While Belle stood drinking in the amazing view, Likey searched in her backpack for her camera, eager to capture the scene!

As you make your way to the next rock, you noticed flower blooms and leaves floating by. The leaves may have fallen from trees and were blown into the water, perhaps before the waterfall. You stretch out your paw and snag a twig of orange-colored leaves to stick out of your backpack!

After you cross to your next rock, with the shore almost within reach, you decide to add to your collection of souvenirs by grabbing some of the plucked blooms floating by and wrapping them in paper for safe keeping. These were put in the water by young pets in the autumn realm of green, hoping they would float and float for a long distance.

@ Plenty of Nuts

As you jump and thump from rock to rock, you check your supply of hazelnuts after noticing you hadn't closed your container as well as you thought! Whew! Most are still there!

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Belle. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
Amanda sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

As you land on the last rock, you notice a huge bloom coming your way on the water. It bumps into the rock, making it an easy grab with your paw!

“I’m going to ask if I can take a cutting of this,” Ciaré said to Belle. “This would look just fine in a half barrel in my front garden!”

As you pass this patch of growth, you pluck a few sprigs in hopes of decorating up the doorway or the table of the home where you'll lay your head down soon.

@ Ginger and Lemons
Choose a name and Belle, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Belle. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Belle is enjoying the Autumn Experience when George comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says George. Belle looks down and sees something valuable. George generously lets Belle keep it!
