@ Scarlet Pathway
Splinter and Unigy are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!
Scarlet Pathway
As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
“Time to move on and shake the next paw!” observed Splinter. Tassie agreed, but said she was going to stay here awhile and collect pine cones.

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Splinter thought the scenery at this new stop was lovely and asked Craven if it would be possible to set up camp for the night!

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
While Splinter stood drinking in the amazing view, jimkitty searched in his backpack for his camera, eager to capture the scene!

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
While Splinter stood drinking in the amazing view, Puff searched in his backpack for his camera, eager to capture the scene!

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
Bubbles and Splinter, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Splinter. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Splinter.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Zen.

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Splinter to Bear.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Splinter.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Winter.

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

B. Ugger bent down to sniff the flower in front of them but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, B. Ugger?” asked Splinter.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said B. Ugger.

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
Splinter tumbled out of the Autumn Experience tourist bus, almost flattening Twitch in the process, then he wondered where the muffled groans were coming from!

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

@ Sunset Field
Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Splinter on to get to the next stop on the Autumn Experience. However, blue sunshine sat down, insisting on a rest and complaining of blisters!

“Isn’t this amazing, Punky?” declared Splinter. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

“What’s this flower called?” Splinter said to Rowan. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Rowan and hastily changed the subject.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

Splinter and Icy pooled their silver moles, hoping to buy a small souvenir or two to remind them of this beautiful place!

"This is a glorious specimen, ceefa", observed Splinter. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Splinter?" said ceefa. "Buy a garden gnome!"

Splinter and Norris shook paws before sitting down to enjoy an autumnal harvest snack. “There’s nothing like farm-fresh food, is there, Splinter?” said Norris.

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Spirit" said Splinter. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Splinter! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Splinter is enjoying the Autumn Experience when tigg comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says tigg. Splinter looks down and sees something valuable. tigg generously lets Splinter keep it!
