Bjarne and Solo are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Red
Fall foliage in striking hues of red and orange will be seen all around on this tour along the riverbank. Your pet can collect pine cones, sample wild berries and currants, view beautiful plants in purple and red, and perhaps spot some exotic birdlife! Everypet will enjoy lingering on the bridge to view the peaceful scene as the sun goes down turning the river pink as it does so ...

Before we begin the journey we need to check-in here to pick up a trail map and some travel snacks. Be sure to sign the register with how many are in your travel party and how long you plan to be on the trail. Don't forget to take a potty break before you head out!

Episode 2/25

@ Sleepy River Sunrise
"paws, just take a look all around you and breathe deeply! Get that good fresh air in your lungs! Does it get any better than this?" asked Bjarne, who had just met paws at this Autumn Experience stop.

The sun is just beginning to illuminate the sky, casting a warm glow on the sleepy river and the sleepy pets in the village. We begin our journey early in the cool of the day as the PnF weatherpet has predicted an unusually warm autumn day ahead.

@ Sunrise Silhouette
灰心 was hailed by Bjarne, who had also just arrived on the scene. “What a great view, 灰心!” said Bjarne. “I could stay here for hours!”

As the sun continues to rise and the chill of the morning gives way, some of the hikers begin to shed their warm jackets and stuff them in their packs. A lone plant is dramatically silhouetted in the sun's golden light.

@ Autumn Stillness
Grace nearly stumbled over Bjarne, who was lying full length on the grass. “I was wishing I’d brought my watercolours,” said Bjarne. “This just cries out to be painted!”

As we behold the beauty of the golden leaves in the nearby trees, some clouds have rolled in, obscuring the sun for a bit. Some small fish in the river below are dining on insects that skim along the surface, creating little ripples on the calm water.

@ Orange Splendor
Bjarne normally avoided tourist hotspots but he was glad he had come, especially since meeting his friend Cherish Scrappy Demure here!

The glorious colors of autumn overflow in profusion along the trail prompting a chorus of 'oohs' and 'ahs' among the travelers. We pause and stare in rapturous awe for a moment before proceeding.

@ Ginger Root
Icicle and Bjarne shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.
Ginger Root
Ginger root is a well-known natural remedy for some common ailments. If you are prone to stomach upset and indigestion, nibbling on a small piece of raw ginger or drinking ginger tea can help alleviate your symptoms. But it is most useful on the journey as it helps your body to recover from muscle soreness after over-exertion. It will definitely come in handy today!

"Put your camera down for a minute, Bjarne," said Waylon, "and just drink in that view!"

An important reminder when one is out on an adventure: remember to look up! There is so much beauty around us, we don't want to miss any of it, especially when it is something as wonderful as the sun's rays filtering through the orange leaves of this Japanese Maple tree.

See, glancing upward occasionally does have its benefits! As we continue along the trail we see a different variety of Japanese Maple, no less beautiful than the orange one. A treat to our eyes, this one is adorned in a fabulous crimson red.

@ Delightful Dahlia
"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Selina" said Bjarne. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Bjarne! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

The PnF gardener has done a fabulous job landscaping along the trail. Pots of flowers have been placed throughout to display an array of vivid autumn colors. This deep pink hued dahlia is delightful!

“These make a fine display, don’t they, Bjarne?” said Blossom, when she and Bjarne had shaken paws.

Be still and maybe it won't see you. Look over there on that red flower. It's a Micronesian Myzomela, and I almost didn't see it as it is somewhat camouflaged by the wispy red flowers it is sipping nectar from.

“Isn’t this amazing, Toothless?” declared Bjarne. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

@ Basket of Pine Cones
Bjarne and Wily shook paws before sitting down to enjoy an autumnal harvest snack. “There’s nothing like farm-fresh food, is there, Bjarne?” said Wily.

According to the note attached to the basket, each of us is supposed to take a pine cone and plant the seeds in the designated area ahead. A park ranger will give us instructions when we get there. A pine forest covered in fresh snowfall is one of the most beautiful sights to see in winter. I'm happy to help add to that beauty!

Bjarne and Sarah shook paws, said “How do you do?” and posed for a souvenir photo. “Why am I always on the left?” grumbled Bjarne. “Let’s change sides.”
“No,” said Sarah. “This is my best side.”

@ Autumn Rose Bouquet
"Midnight, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Bjarne.

The unmistakable fragrance of roses captures my attention as I leave the wooded area. I look down to see a beautiful arrangement of autumn-hued roses in a white ceramic pot.

@ Perfect Spot for a Campsite
Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Bjarne on to get to the next stop on the Autumn Experience. However, Graham sat down, insisting on a rest and complaining of blisters!

Choose a name and Bjarne, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Bjarne. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Wild redcurrants can be found all over the countryside. They look temptingly sweet to eat, but these shiny red berries are usually made into redcurrant jelly because of their tartness.

Wilford bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Wilford?” asked Bjarne.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Wilford.

Growing on the side of the bridge is a mass of deep red and purple leafy vines. Deep blue berries hang in bunches just waiting to be eaten.

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Bjarne. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."

Two beautiful waterlily dahlias in a vase create the perfect simple, yet elegant look. The stunning large blooms need no other adornment.

Blástjarna and Bjarne shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

Teasel weeds are a very common roadside plant. They look beautiful for being a weed, don't they? They are a favorite among crafters as they can be dried and painted any color. These lovely bi-color pink carnations pair perfectly with the purple painted teasels.

“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Bjarne to Cherrie.

Bjarne is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Asparagus comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Asparagus. Bjarne looks down and sees something valuable. Asparagus generously lets Bjarne keep it!
