Liisa steps off the boat onto Aegis with fellow traveller Bonny. Time for a look around, but first a long stretch after the voyage!

This rocky bay provides the perfect place for anypet to rest, play with the numerous pebbles and watch the changing patterns of sunlight on the stone outcrops and distant peaks, or perhaps to dip a cautious paw into the unceasing sea waves running in and back out.

Liisa was surprised to meet Sweetie pie here! But they were both delighted to find plenty of travel tokens!

Anypet will enjoy exploring the sand dunes with their sharply pointed grey-green leaves and large spikes of creamy-yellow flowers of marram grass in the summer, the backdrop to a sandy beach and the sea.

This beautiful little bay is irresistible to pets who can’t wait to scamper or flap over the golden sand to get to the top of the stony peninsula and gaze far out to the horizon over the sea.

Liisa and Preeya looked around in awe, wishing they'd thought to pack a picnic to enjoy here!

Of all the pets Liisa might have met here, George was the last she expected. But what a great view!

Liisa looked around the scene in consternation, asking Sylvantra where she was supposed to plug in her iron and fur drier?

This bay is just the place for an early morning excursion beside the sea; a peaceful place to share with the scavenging birds; ideal for contemplation.

Liisa and Frost pool their small change, hoping to buy some small souvenirs to remind them of this place!

As birds fly home to roost and busy pets retire for the night, the West Pasture in Aegis becomes darker and quiet in the setting sun, waiting for the first stirrings from nocturnal pets who are active during the night.

Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Liisa on to keep on trekking. However Fino sat down, refusing to budge, complaining of blisters on his paws...

Liisa and Franny were so busy gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to finish shaking paws before changeover!

Of all the pets Liisa might have met here, Cutey Purr was the last she expected. But what a great view!

On Sunday afternoons, many pets take an excursion in the formal gardens, which display the Dutch influence of bright tulips making a fine splash of colour against the immaculate lawn.

After months of planning, Liisa and Champ finally agreed on where they would travel together, and they are both secretly please with their choice!

Liisa gazed around in awe, while Cherrie mumbled and grumbled about Liisa's shortcut being no shortcut at all, if the blisters on her paws were anything to go by!

Liisa was becoming increasingly irritated with the constant clicking and beeping of MooBerry's camera disturbing the peace and quiet, so Liisa moved purposefully on without her!

Liisa finally makes it back to the landing stage, where BERT is also about to embark and go home. What an adventure it has been! Liisa pockets a map of Aegis as a momento. The guidebook says:

When their vessel carefully manoeuvres past the rocks to reach the landing stage, the pets can jump out and explore this delightful little island. There are beautiful, relaxing sandy beaches, rocky hills to climb, a viaduct and old castle ruin to explore, green pastures to take a picnic hamper, woods and forests to ramble in, rivers to jump over, apples to pick and there are flowers galore!
