"I think there'll be quite a few tired paws, wings and flippers when we get back to the tour bus," said Hershette, after she and Pinky had spent some time exploring another long country track to its end.
"Is there a gift shop downtown?" queried Pinky. "The thought of that generally keeps me going."

Pinky and Flax shook paws, said “How do you do?” and posed for a souvenir photo. “Why am I always on the left?” grumbled Pinky. “Let’s change sides.”

Another opportunity to meet a Canada Goose, with her offspring! In recent years, Prince Edward Island has been an important migration stop for the Canada Goose in both spring and autumn.

“Simples,” grinned Pinky. “Put an ‘S’. Now put Ask At Chew An and Bob’s your uncle.”

North Rustico is a charming fishing village just five minutes from Cavendish, home of the Lucy Maud Montgomery Heritage Site. It's a must-see location for all fans of Anne of Green Gables!

“It would be great fun to camp overnight, wouldn't it, Pandette?” said Pinky.

Pinky and Beatrice came across each other in the hotel bar. "Hey, Beatrice, what are you going to have?"
"I thought I'd try Canada’s national cocktail, the Caesar, Pinky. It's made of vodka, clamato juice, tabasco and Worcestershire sauce."
Pinky looked puzzled. "What's clamato juice, Beatrice?"
"Tomato juice with clams and chilli!"
New Brunswick Beachcombing
Beachcombing is a soothing activity which involves combing the shoreline to see what objects of interest you can see. This could be shells, pebbles, seaglass or even something more unusual! Beaches can be very specific in what they collect, due to currents, geography and offshore habitats. Some beaches are good for driftwood, others for mermaid’s purses.

“’Maple syrup is made from the xylem sap of maple trees. The trees most commonly used are sugar maple, red maple and black maple because of the high sugar content in the sap,’” read out Sam from the brochure.
“It’s making me hungry, Sam!” declared Pinky. “Perhaps I’ll just nibble a corner of one of the maple syrup scones the hotel packed us for elevenses!”

“Pass me the binoculars, Pinky!” said Choose a name. "I think that's a Northern Cardinal just taking off over there! They stay in Canada all year round, you know."

The blue jay is found throughout most of Canada, with the exception of the far west of the country. It is the provincial bird of PEI. The blue jay’s vivid cobalt or azure-blue tail and wing feathers make an exotic contrast against brown leaves or green grass. However, these feathers are not truly blue, as blue pigment is unknown in birds. The blue jay’s feather colour results from refraction, or distortion, of light by a peculiar inner structure of the feather substance.

Northern Cardinal
A great number of birds, including the Northern Cardinal and Blue Jay, have evolved to remain in Canada throughout the year. Many flock together, sometimes with other species, and huddle to help retain heat. This also reduces the need to watch out for predators. Most remain active by feeding on nuts, dried fruit, seeds, twigs and branches in the vegetation. Many of these species flock to bird feeders, where they supplement their diet with fatty items.

Nova Scotia, which is Latin for "New Scotland", is home to the largest Scottish Gaelic-speaking community outside of Scotland and their flag is a reversal in colours of Scotland's, consisting of a blue saltire on a white field. Peggy's Cove is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay.

Pinky and Tundra came across each other in the hotel bar. "Hey, Tundra, what are you going to have?"

Peggy's Point Lighthouse
Peggy's Point Lighthouse is an active lighthouse and an enduring image of Canada. Situated within Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, it is one of the busiest tourist attractions in the province and is a prime attraction on the Lighthouse Trail scenic drive. The lighthouse is operated by the Canadian Coast Guard and is situated on a granite outcrop at Peggy's Point, immediately south of the village and its cove. The red and white lighthouse is one of the most-photographed structures in Atlantic Canada and one of the most recognisable lighthouses in the world.

From across the road, Asparagus surveyed the current stop on their map. “Would you fancy living there, Pinky?”
"Well, it's certainly a bit different to where we live," said Pinky. "But I could get used to it, I daresay!"

"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Pinky," said Mittens, "for this experience alone?"

Bras d'Or Lake is an estuary in the centre of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. It has a connection to the open sea, and is tidal. It also has inflows of fresh water from rivers, making the brackish water a very productive natural habitat. It was designated the Bras d'Or Lake Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2011.

"It's turned a bit hot, Pinky. I'm going to put my sunhat on," said schrute.

Yarmouth is a port town in Nova Scotia, whose industries include fishing and tourism. It is the terminus of a ferry service to Portland, Maine. It was formerly a major shipbuilding centre.

“You know, I'd like to spend a whole week in this province here, Pinky!” said Autumn Fall.
"It's very pleasant indeed—but you never know, the next part of the tour might be even better!" replied Pinky.

Nova Scotia has an incredibly long coastline compared to its overall size due to all its ins and outs, so there are numerous tiny inlets and bays all around the island.

@ Nova Scotia Lighthouse
"It must be so romantic working producing maple syrup, Pinky," said pRINCESS contentedly sipping grape juice after a hard day’s sightseeing. "Imagine going from tree to tree to collect the sap every summer and seeing it turned into delicious syrup!"
"Hmm—now imagine being up at dawn in the cold winter with a great deal of complicated equipment,” said Pinky. “The work doesn’t stop.”
pRINCESS waved her glass. “I’ll have staff to do all that,” she said. “I’ll just do the easy bits.”

Lighthouses are a common sight along the Nova Scotia coastline and remain an important symbol of the past. They beautifully highlight the picturesque coastal landscape. Some are open for viewing while others can be observed when passing on foot or on bicycle.
