Grandpa Jack said that catching Grandma wasn't the easiest, that he didn't always use the best "bait". LOL, get it?

"Hey! Jack! Look at this new PNFAP, it's called GO Fish! It's a dating AP, and pets post their photos and if you want to meet them, you swipe right on their photo, and if you aren't you flip them to the left. What do you think of this one?" "Well, Fluke, she's a hottie, but I think she'd have some trouble breathing under water".

Jack and Fluke had a knee slapping good time looking at profiles, and Jack saw one he thought might be "the one", and invited her to have coffee with him and she said yes. Jack, nervous about it all asked Fluke to be his "wingman", which may or may not have been a good idea, narrated Ratcliff

However, when my Grams swum into that coffee shop, Grandpa said his heart was all twitterpated. I wasn't sure what that meant until the new girl at school sat next to me at lunch..", Ratcliff continued the story.

Grandpa and Grandma had a pretty good time getting to know each other, talking about the weather, and some family connections, realizing that Grandpa's aunt Tilly and Grandma's cousin Sue were friends.

"Well, Fluke, we can uninstall that PNFAP, she's the one! She's perfect in every way! Her eyes sparkled with the light of a thousand diamonds, and the way the water swirled around her fins...." Jack sighed with infatuation. "I'm glad it went so well, Jack! When will you see her again? Soon?"

Fluke had a wonderful idea that Jack should try that move from that movie, where the guy stands under the girl's window with a Boom box, and serenades her. So of course Grandpa, wanting to be sure to impress Grandma, was happy to try anything! Ratcliff continued the story.

"WELL, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW YOU CAN'T CARRY A TUNE IN A BUCKET!" yelled Fluke, when Jack bolted to the ocean's surface to have a cry over the disaster of the idea. "She'll never see me again after that! *sob* *sob* She said I sounded like a lawn mower! I wasn't even sure what that was, but she showed me the video of one on TicketyTock, and *sob* *sob* she's right!" cried Jack, adding more salt to the ocean

Grandma told us all later that Grandpa really didn't sound that bad, but that it wasn't good! LOL! So she decided that she would give Grandpa another date. Grandpa always listened to Fluke's dumb ideas, and Fluke dressed up as their waiter, so he could whisper advice to Grandpa on the date. But even Fluke missed the impending disaster that this date would be.... narrated Ratcliff

OH NO! WHAT DID WE DO?, both Jack and Fluke were sobbing, dinner was a disaster! Fluke wasn't paying attention when Jack ordered dinner, which unfortunately, turned out to be a distant cousin to the love of his life! Do you think she'll ever forgive me? Oh FLUKE, what am I going to do? She's stolen my heart!

Ratcliff continued the story, "For some reason, Grandma said it was an honest mistake and that she would be delighted to go out again with Jack, much to his surprise and delight! So Grandpa, and Fluke thought going to the PNF world champion water polo game might be fun, and you know what, it was!"

Jack, that was finally a great date! I'm so happy for you! cried Fluke after and Jack was just as excited, he had a really good feeling about how things were shaping up!

Ratcliff is questing! Episode 16/25

Ratcliff said things went well for a while, so Grandpa decided to invite Grandma home for a meal he cooked. After setting the lighting, and struggling to find the right music mix on his PTunes, Grandpa was pretty happy! That is, until Grandma sat down on the sofa only to find crumbs in the cushions, and a dirty sock stuck to her pants! Grandpa always said that his bachelor's pad was always a disaster, up to that day!

UGH, cried Jack, Why didn't I clean the house? Fluke, why didn't you tell me?
Well, Jack, I've never cleaned my apartment, why would I think you needed to clean yours?.

Ratcliff is questing! Episode 18/25

Well, Grandpa thought Grandma might have been too grossed out by how poor his housekeeping skills were, but Grandma confessed many, many years later that her skills were lacking as well! They continued to go out, and Grandpa and Fluke, always in tow, went to see the new blockbuster. Ratcliff related the story.

Grandma was getting a little tired of Grandpa always bringing his best friend Fluke on every date, so the two friends plotted ahead of time to figure out a date for the two of them, and Grandpa's confidence level was enough to see it through without input from Fluke.

Ratcliff is questing! Episode 20/25

Grandpa decided that he'd had enough of Fluke's advice, and went out on his own, and emptying his special seaweed plucking savings account, went to Tuffiny's and picked out the biggest, shiniest, sparkliest ring he could find. Grandpa always said that he was as nervous as a fish in a shark tank, asking Grandma the big question!

And just like that, Grandpa got down on one fin, and Grandma said...........

And Grandma, look at how beautiful she is! So happy that Grandpa proposed, shimmering with excitement!

Grandma didn't want a long engagement, and Fluke as the best man, gave the greatest toast: "May your heart be warm and happy with the lilt of loud laughter every day in every way, and forever and ever after."

All the years Great-Grandma made Grandma swim off to dance class gave her the moves on the dance floor! So much fun was had by all at the reception!

Through all the years of love, laughter, burned up meals (Grandma never confessed until after their marriage she couldn't boil water, let alone cook!), kids, pets and life in general, they made it through it all, these "kids" have enjoyed 35 years together! Grandma did finally learn one special dish, have one for yourself! What? OH, Grandma's name? Why, Diane! Just like the song, Jack and Diane!
