@ Scarlet Pathway
Everdeen and Sikandar are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!

As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

@ Illusion of Nightfall
Everdeen and HOot had shaken paws and took some time to enjoy the super view in a companionable silence!

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Everdeen opened her rucksack to change her hat. Oscar could see Everdeen had a baseball cap, a sombrero, a beret, a straw boater, a cricket cap, a sou'wester, a large, floppy sunhat and a pith helmet!
“Did you bring a mortarboard too?” Oscar asked Everdeen.
Undulating Road
The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
“Time to move on and shake the next paw!” observed Everdeen. Reynard agreed, but said she was going to stay here awhile and collect pine cones.

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
"Peanuts, just take a look all around you and breathe deeply! Get that good fresh air in your lungs! Does it get any better than this?" asked Everdeen, who had just met Peanuts at this Autumn Experience stop.

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Everdeen.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Barista.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
Inspired by the sunny day, Bones said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Everdeen took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Bones hastily revised her romantic harvest vision.
Fresh Chestnuts
As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
Mochi bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Mochi?” asked Everdeen.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Mochi.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Draco greeted Everdeen cheerily, recommending she expended some silver moles on the fresh harvest food before them.

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

"Rascal, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Everdeen.

@ Chili Peppers in Basket
Everdeen was excited by seeing all the different harvest produce. “I’m going to apply for an allotment and start growing my own food!” he announced to Kitty, when they met and shook paws.

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
“I’ve written a postcard to Mrs Eucalyptus about this amazing Autumn Experience!” said Everdeen. “She’ll wish she were here! Where’s the nearest postbox?”
Cat Blossom shielded her eyes and rotated 360°, elaborately scanning the horizon. “I don’t know how it comes about, but they appear not to have thought to provide a postbox here, Everdeen. How remiss of them!” Seeing Everdeen’s ears beginning to droop, Cat Blossom added, “Don’t worry, you can post your card after this leg of the Experience!”
Log Cabin in the Woods
Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

@ Sunset Field
Mekmek shook paws with Everdeen and was just enjoying the view when he was distracted by loud rustling as Everdeen unfolded a very lengthy Autumn Experience itinerary, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Mekmek’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” snapped Mekmek. “I’m about to take a photo of this amazing scene—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”

Sitting on the porch of the cabin watching the sun as it sets over the fields in the valley, you are thankful for the beauty all around in PnF land.

@ Purple Rose Bouquet
Slimer and Everdeen shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

@ Lilac Blooms
"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Theodore Cleaver.
"Well," said Everdeen, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."
Lilac Blooms
What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

“Isn’t this amazing, ❤️Snuggles?” declared Everdeen. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

“I could stay here forever, Everdeen,” said ~meepop~. “This is an amazing place!”

As daylight fades into darkness the earth is bathed in soft pink and purple diffused hues. An old white picket fence stands guard as it has for years.

Casper and Everdeen shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

@ Purple Leaf with Raindrops
"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Everdeen. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
Midnight Bleu sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Pixie.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Everdeen. "Is he on this tour?"

Everdeen and Hot Stuff shook paws before sitting down to enjoy an autumnal harvest snack. “There’s nothing like farm-fresh food, is there, Everdeen?” said Hot Stuff.

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Silky" said Everdeen. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Everdeen! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”
Pink Poinsettia Flowers
Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

Feathery Plumes in Pink
Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Everdeen is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Olivia Anna comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Olivia Anna. Everdeen looks down and sees something valuable. Olivia Anna generously lets Everdeen keep it!
