Snowy white with a splash of orange for a beak and legs these geese can truly sneak up on you on a winter day. At least they do not have quite the same reputation as their Canadian counterparts *wink wink*

M.J.Fox and blue sunshine shook paws and said “How do you do?” to the next creature who had come to meet them, and posed for a souvenir photo. “Why am I always on the left?” grumbled M.J.Fox. “Let’s change sides.” “No,” said blue sunshine. “This side shows my best side.”

One of the friendliest birds of the Canadian winter. Many children have memories of standing outside with arms extended and feed in hand awaiting a bird to land and feed.

While M.J.Fox paused to drink in the view, Blue Fire started scrabbling in her rucksack for her portable, foldable camping chair. “What are you doing with that, Blue Fire?” asked M.J.Fox. “We’ll need to get going in a minute or we’ll be left behind!”

The kings of the north reside here. While they appear large and overbearing they truly can be friendly and will invite you in for halibut.

The penguins of the northern hemisphere! Ok, not quite but adorable nonetheless. These critters can even be found roaming through town when they are not on the hillsides.

You never know what you will experience on the coast. Here we have the brilliant purple and pink sunset speckled by soaring seabirds in the sky. Looks like tomorrow should be a good day.

Grouped together you never know what sort of mischief these birds will get into. Are they preparing to come into town? Maybe they are planning to fly back to sea. One never knows.

“I’ve written a postcard to my aunty to tell her about our amazing safari!” said M.J.Fox. “She’ll wish she was here! Where’s the nearest postbox?” BERT shielded his eyes and rotated 360°, elaborately scanning the horizon. “I don’t think they’ve thought to provide a postbox here, M.J.Fox. How remiss of them!” Seeing M.J.Fox’s ears beginning to droop, BERT added, “Don’t worry, you can post your card after this leg of the safari.”

@ Humboldt Haven
Both Molly and M.J.Fox love the scenery at the next stop, and they both enjoy introducing themselves to their new friend, who has been waiting to meet them!

Plug your nose! Things are about to get a little smelly around here. Where there are this many penguins there is sure to be a lot of guano! But with such cuties running around it is easy to ignore.

This lil fella appears grumpy as he is often mistaken for a seal. He really would like to wear a sign saying I am not a seal but has thus far resisted. So please be kind when entering the beach here and do not upset the natives. They are quite friendly.

Iolanthe was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as M.J.Fox unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which he succeeded in knocking Iolanthe’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” snapped Iolanthe. “We’re about to pose with this amazing creature—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”

Watch your step! Lounging harbour seals can be found everywhere here. It’s quite peaceful when they are sleeping but you may want earplugs when they awaken.

“You never know what sort of critter to expect next, do you, Foxy Rex?" whispered M.J.Fox. “You know, small, cute and furry or really quite, um, large, with—er—very sharp teeth.” Foxy Rex reassured M.J.Fox that all the critters were looking forward to meeting them, regardless of size, furriness, cuteness and/or type of teeth.

Hold onto your rocks! These penguins are notorious rock thieves. They sneak up on one another’s nests and steal pebbles to better their own nest. It appears these two penguins may be conspiring together. So hold onto your goods.

With the grace of a ballerina and the precision of a swordsman the betta fish darts and swims around with skilled choreography. Its fins follow it like an elegant ball gown circling a dancer darting here and there. A thrill to observe.

“What have you got in your tote bag, Lalique?” asked M.J.Fox. “It looks very full!” “I’ve come prepared for anything, M.J.Fox,” responded Lalique. “There’s deck shoes, snowshoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, flippers, walking boots, Wellington boots—you name it, I’ve got it!”

At the very depths of the ocean you have now reached Octopus Ridge. While it may appear a little scary at first we promise you will find things to be quite welcoming here. You never know what you will discover at great ocean depths.

“I could stay here forever, M.J.Fox,” said Mulrey. “This is an amazing place!” “Well, you never know what lies ahead, Mulrey. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said M.J.Fox.

It is ok. You can breathe. We just recommend staying in the middle of our shark cage here while we are at depth. Going close to the edge near the bars may be a little risky and ill advised. But isn’t that shark ever so graceful swimming around and stalking us?

M.J.Fox opened his rucksack to change his hat. Maebell could see M.J.Fox had a large, floppy sunhat, a balaclava, a rain hat, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a swimming cap! “Did you bring a fez too?” Maebell asked M.J.Fox.

Swimming and lazing around in the tropical waters one may be lucky to catch sight of these beauties floating by. Amidst the corals their colours almost glow as if illuminated by black light. Certainly a rare treat for anyone to see.

Snap on your scuba gear and go for a swim among these gentle giants. They are more likely that other whales to breech so do take care when in the water. If you aren’t so brave perhaps a Zodiac tour is more your speed.

M.J.Fox has had a wonderful day, and has met lots of animals for the very first time, but now it is time for M.J.Fox to go back to your page and relax.

Your pet will need to wrap up warmly and perhaps don snowshoes for this part of the quest! The journey starts in beautiful snowy scenes where some quite rare animals and birds are waiting to welcome your pet to their wintry world. The quest continues to cliffs, then rocky and sandy seashores and culminates in your pet sailing on the sea to view the watery world and its inhabitants! The octopus has promised to put in an appearance, and the shark has been practising his fiercest, most glary expression, but that’s to conceal his heart of gold and cuddly disposition! Bon voyage!
