Nari steps off the boat onto Aegis with fellow traveller Abel. Time for a look around, but first a long stretch after the voyage!

This rocky bay provides the perfect place for anypet to rest, play with the numerous pebbles and watch the changing patterns of sunlight on the stone outcrops and distant peaks, or perhaps to dip a cautious paw into the unceasing sea waves running in and back out.

Anypet will enjoy exploring the sand dunes with their sharply pointed grey-green leaves and large spikes of creamy-yellow flowers of marram grass in the summer, the backdrop to a sandy beach and the sea.

Nari was becoming increasingly irritated with the constant clicking and beeping of Sweetie's camera disturbing the peace and quiet, so Nari moved purposefully on without her!

This beautiful little bay is irresistible to pets who can’t wait to scamper or flap over the golden sand to get to the top of the stony peninsula and gaze far out to the horizon over the sea.

Nari looked around the scene in consternation, asking Milo where she was supposed to plug in her iron and fur drier?

A feat of engineering that certainly stands out in the countryside. It’s a place to stop and dream of where the trains thundering past will be going!

"Come on Hot Stuff, pick up the pace a little, will you?" Scolded Nari, hoping to get in a little more sight seeing before changeover...

While Nari soaked in the view, Layla was searching her backpack for the bug spray, certain that her fur would be crawling with little biting critters once the sun went down!

While Nari normally avoids tourist hotspots, she is glad she allowed Rosa to bring her here!

As birds fly home to roost and busy pets retire for the night, the West Pasture in Aegis becomes darker and quiet in the setting sun, waiting for the first stirrings from nocturnal pets who are active during the night.

While Nari was busy snapping photos, Cassiopeia wandered off to find a suitable bush, as there was a decided lack of amenities in the immediate area!

Heather is traditionally associated with good fortune and protection. White heather is thought to be particularly lucky and sprigs of it are woven into bridal bouquets and sold as a lucky charm.

@ Island: Aegis
Nari finally makes it back to the landing stage, where Draco is also about to embark and go home. What an adventure it has been! Nari pockets a map of Aegis as a momento. The guidebook says:

When their vessel carefully manoeuvres past the rocks to reach the landing stage, the pets can jump out and explore this delightful little island. There are beautiful, relaxing sandy beaches, rocky hills to climb, a viaduct and old castle ruin to explore, green pastures to take a picnic hamper, woods and forests to ramble in, rivers to jump over, apples to pick and there are flowers galore!
