Scaredy Cat has just taken his first plane ride alone (well...he does have his dog with him) and he is quite proud of himself for being so brave and not getting upset. He's flown to Norway to meet up with his friend Jay, who is going to show him around his beautiful country while celebrating Norway Constitution Day, also known as Seventeenth of May. This is the day that the country celebrates when the constitution declared Norway to be an independent kingdom. Jay explains to his feline friend that there are children in parades all throughout the country, but everyone gets involved in the celebrating, even visitors from other places! On their way to the first parade, they will stop to get some small flags that they can hold and wave. Along the way they can stop to grab something to eat from the many food vendors who would be seliing native dishes and even things such as hot dogs and ice cream! Scaredy Cat is nervous, but he is also looking forward to celebrating such a special occasion with Jay.

This week, we've gone to Norway where the people are celebrating their becoming an independent kingdom. We'd love to see how you and your pet will celebrate with Jay and his countrypets. Will they join in on one of the many parades that will be taking place across the country? Maybe they'd enjoy dressing up in native costume and taking part in the various festivities that occur throughout the day! And of course you and your pet will surely want to partake of the abundant food offerings where you can sample things such as ligonberry jam, pølse (hotdogs served in lompe - a soft flatbread) and is krem (ice cream). Maybe your pet is satisfied being in Norway to enjoy celebrating Syttende mai quietly while taking in the country's beauty.
