Achiever Beaver is not likely to tell you much about himself because he never has time to spare. When he is not running about with blueprints and schematics under his arm, he is gathering building materials or surveying new projects. In addition to being a master engineer and an extraordinary architect, he is also a visionary who sees potential for transformation in every landscape. Why settle for rushing water when you can have a scenic pond suitable for beaver lodges and feeding beds?

Even though he has the kindest of hearts, Achiever Beaver’s dental issues sometimes get him into trouble with other animals. His front incisors never stop growing, so he has to constantly gnaw on wood to prevent his teeth from getting too long. Truth be told, on rare occasions, he has chewed through trees that other creatures were using.

Mr. and Mrs. Robin were not impressed when they birch tree they were building a nest in came crashing down to the ground. The squirrels won’t even talk about how many winter food caches they have lost. Achiever Beaver always apologizes profusely and offers to build something for the dispossessed animals as compensation for their losses, but he is not likely to win a forest popularity contest any time soon. Oops! Did the old owl live inside that tree? So sooorrrry!

When you are small enough that major predators just take pity on you, and you can’t see as far as the mirror you are trying to recognise yourself in, familiar well-worn paths are all you ever venture on, and then you go as fast as you can to make sure nobody spots you before you spot them, because you can’t see them anyway …

The only safe way for tiny rodents and other miniature four-legged creatures to compete with one another is to go nowhere fast. Once the word leaked out about hamster wheels, everypet from geckos to beavers liked the idea. So now the big event for small creatures is wheel racing. If you have never heard about it, that’s because you were too big to notice!
