Bob is visiting Scaredy Cat and JJ today. After getting settled in the living room, he looked at his friend and remarked how unusual it was to see him all bundled up in a sweater. "Well, it is getting colder now, and I have all these sweaters from past holiday gifts. Even JJ got them too,” said Scaredy Cat. "That's a peculiar looking design you got there too. It's the ugly sweater, isn't it? I've heard about it for some time now. I wouldn't want to be caught wearing one in public" Bob said. "Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. Beautiful to some and ugly to others. As for me, I've always loved the ugly sweaters that I've received during the holidays because they were usually a handmade design and meant something. Nowadays, ugly sweaters are sold in shops and it's just not the same as making your own design on it" explained Scaredy Cat "I guess you're right. If it's a gift from your special someone or your best friend, I would treasure it too,” said Bob. "I'm glad to hear you say that because have I got a surprise for you. I've been working on this sweater as a gift for you and I hope you'll like it," Scaredy Cat said it as he passed the sweater to Bob. Bob got all choked up while receiving the sweater and he understood what Scaredy Cat meant about getting a gift from a heart. "Come on Bob, put it on. You know what? We're gonna ask everyone at the community centre to come up with their own design of an ugly sweater. It will be great to see it!" Scaredy Cat said joyously. In 2011, ugly Christmas sweater lovers created National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day as a way to lighten up the busy holidays and to show off their absurd, ugly sweaters. The day has grown in popularity and is celebrated worldwide. Now occurring on the third Friday of December, the celebration gives holiday lovers worldwide a chance to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters. It's your turn to design your own ugly sweater for the gallery. Your imagination is your tools. It can be animal or cartoon characters with a holiday theme to give sweaters a kitsch feel. Think of reindeer, snowmen, mice, kittens or elves. Select ridiculous colors. The more they clash, the better. Over-embellish! Pom-poms, bells, felt, tinsel, or any other glittery, jingly items lying around the house. Add a collar, dickey, or ruffle. Electrify it! Put Rudolph to shame and go to the head of the team with bright, flashing lights! Give it some 80s flair with shoulder pads. There's no limit to what you can do to create an ugly sweater, so go for it! Here's the basics: * Your submission MUST be related to the theme * You must submit your art to the PnF art gallery - only entries there will be counted. https://www.pets-n-friends.com/community.php?id=20 * Put "Ugly Sweater" in the title or description * The entry with the most votes will be declared the winner. * To vote, click the "vote" button - you may vote for as many entries as you want * Voting will be open immediately * This challenge will be open from now until December 24, 2024 (around 7:00pm Tuesday night in the USA). |
