National Afternoon Tea Month
Today we find Bob, Scaredy Cat and JJ taking a moment to enjoy some afternoon tea. Of course, Bob loving his snacks and treats, suggested the idea. "What a lovely tray you have prepared Bob,” said Scaredy Cat. Bob responded "during the 19th century, the day's last meal was often served between 8 and 9 pm, creating a long gap between meals. The afternoon tea offered a light, casual meal to help tide people over until supper. I'm not so sure I could wait that long, but in time it became part of social culture". Scaredy Cat said "wow, you've been looking into this a bit". "If it has to do with treats, I'm checking it out! I found out that crustless finger sandwiches, scones, small cakes, pastries, breads, and jams are some things served with English Breakfast and Earl Grey teas along with other variety of teas". JJ sat there listening and was getting hungrier by the moment, so she barked and said, "let’s dig in”! "I second that" agreed Scaredy Cat. As they all enjoyed their afternoon tea and snacks, Bob continued to share what he learned about the tradition and that April is National Afternoon Tea Month.

This week in the gallery is a chance to reignite interest in the ritual and planning of Afternoon Tea Parties at home. Or perhaps your hooman and pets prefer teahouses, gardens, rooms, bed and breakfasts or other locations for afternoon tea. Afternoon tea parties are still hosted around the world. They serve as casual occasions to celebrate friends and family and inspire us to interact and commune with each other like we do here in PnF. We have plenty of tea party decorations and foods to choose from! We look forward to seeing what your Afternoon Tea Party looks like.
