Happy Hanukkah 12345

Dee Delana Brake
Scaredy Cat is nervous. Today at school, his teacher taught the class about Hanukkah, a holiday celebrated by Jewish pets around the world. She told them the story of how a group of Jews only had one night's worth of oil to light a candle in the temple and miraculously, the oil lasted a whole eight nights! It is for that reason that Hannukah is sometimes called the "Festival of Lights". He then learned about some of the food and games they may have at a Hanukkah gathering. Trying to pronounce the names is a lot of work. And he's trying to remember them because he's been invited to a Hanukkah party to celebrate the first night of the holiday. Potato latkes - can't they just say what they are - potato pancakes? And sufganiyot - those are just jelly-filled donuts with powdered sugar! And that thing called a dreidel - it's just a top with funny-looking shapes that they call letters. The candle holder - that's easy to say - menorah. But don't ask him to pronounce the special candle in the middle - a pet could get tongue-tied saying shamash. Oh he hopes that he doesn't make a fool of himself.

This week, we're celebrating Hanukkah, or the Festival of Lights. It's a time for friends and family to come together for each night of Hanukkah. What will your pet do to celebrate this festive holiday? Will they try making their own latkes? Will they buy some chocolate "gelt" (gold foil-wrapped chocolate coins) for the dreidel game? Hey - maybe they'll use Golden Moles for the game as prizes!! Will your pet eat all the sufganiyot (if they can pronounce it)? Share with us how you and your pet will celebrate this week-long holiday!

For your participation, you will receive.....

Come into my parlour
Boris is not so sure that he wants to enter Miss Spider's parlour; she may be hungry for him, but not necessarily in the way he would prefer!

Inside Alias Al's Office

Danny Damselfly
Our head programmer's office, as imagined by the P'n'F Facebook group.
'Alias Al' tends to shun the limelight and works a lot of nighttime hours, so it was only right for a badger to host a page all about Al's office. The P'n'F Facebook group imagined their way in, but since Al's schedule is already assigned through 2213, it may be some time before anyone gets to see the real thing ---

Ane Millavise; From the depths of his office (at an unknown location,) Alias Al is busy turning bits of information from the P'n'F team into "Pets 'n' Friends, The Game!"

This piece is an "artistic" expression of the inside of Al's office, I don't really think he works from inside a gumball machine!

It was inspired by a message from David stating that Al was working on a "version in SQL that will work in 64 bit...it's now all about plugging adoption software together from the bits we've worked out." The gumballs reminded of "bits" of information and bits of colorful art work from the artists. As the gumball machine was one of the requirements for the contest, I went from there. Although I know it is actually hours of technical blood, sweat and tears, the end result for the user is often an amazing "how do they do that?" experience...

Hence the magical mystery tour interpretation of Al's office!

Indri Kamil; This is the look inside Alias Al"s Office. As you can see he's not in his office at the moment. Yes; I knew for sure where he is right now. He's looking for his glasses on the other room. He always forgets that he put his glasses down on the floor while sitting in that rocking chair a while ago; looking for some great idea. He'll be back to his office in a minute or two. You just wait and see.

Andrea Karen Sellers; Sorry Al.....my idea of all creative and dedicated superbrained people is I don't imagine you are neat and tidy, but rather as the ideas flood in and the lists of things you need to get done get ever longer they move through your brain quickly and it all just 'happens' LOL...bit like the professor in 'Back To The Future'...

Edith Chow; Oh no, a tornado has swept through the office, scattering the gumballs across the table and leaving Alias Al the Badger searching frantically for his stick-on moustache. He better find it quick before his co-workers discover his true identity! It looks like Golden Leis the Goldfish may soon realise that Alias Al was in disguise all along!
