Good morning to you. Thank you for graciously accepting my invitation to take tea and discuss an important matter. As you know, one of the duties of a princess is to make sure that no one in the kingdom has had a spell cast upon them. If it is found that one of the kingdom’s subjects has been enchanted then the princess must break that spell by bestowing a kiss. Well, that is what I have read in countless tomes regarding being a princess.

My problem is this is quite an antiquated practice. Why should it be up to me and not the Queen to perform such a duty, surely there must be another way. This kingdom is rich in fairy folk, and I know we have a wizard, perhaps even more than one. So I want to find a different way to free a subject from enchantment and you will help me.

I seem to be in a slight quandary. I know I am a prince, but am I a prince of frogs or a prince who was turned into a frog? Did I do something to upset the witch that lives over the mountains, in the darkest part of the forest? I sure hope not. No one wants a witch to be angry with them--- that never spells anything good.

Of course, being a frog is fine too. I get to sit on a lily pad and catch flies, take in some sun and splash around in the shallow end of the pond. Not a very demanding lifestyle.

I have heard tales that the best way to see if one has been enchanted is to get a princess to kiss you. First, I need to find a princess. Would a princess kiss a frog, and does it matter who the princess is? There is much to think about, and I don’t have time at the moment. I am meeting my tailor to get outfitted for a new suit, something befitting my princely status, but it must be waterproof as well.

Well, hello again. Now that we know each other better, I feel quite outgoing. If you want to play games with me, you will have to be a night owl as I usually prefer the nighttime, but I could be tempted to join you in the day if you have a tasty treat of ants or worms.

I am somewhat of a dirt connoisseur. I eat dirt to help with the digestion of my food. I am sure you don’t eat dirt, but I have to tell you that dirt tastes different depending on which area you find it in, so I would be pleased to sample your dirt, and maybe I can even help you with your soil needs as to growing flowers and crops by letting you know what the dirt may lack or have too much of. We will have a wonderful friendship, I feel.

My mate and I work very hard on making sure our children are raised to be the best that they can be, although many think we are just here to be pretty. That is not true! My mate and I met when we were several years old, and have been together ever since. We share the duties of the nest and hunting for food, a true partnership. We have raised a few cygnets so far, and my spouse and I have decided to use the same nest for all the young we choose to raise, like so many of our species! We will mate for life and are so in love with each other! It is why we are often a symbol for love, which is something we don’t at all mind. I’m sorry! His front incisors never stop growing, so he has to constantly gnaw on wood to prevent his teeth from getting too long. Sea cow? Cow? I’m no cow! I may be big, but please don’t call me a cow. It isn’t polite. I prefer to think of myself as a graceful aquatic mammal who just happens to weigh up to 1300 pounds. I move quite slowly, but that is so I don’t miss out on anything. I am very curious, and if I was speedy, then I might not see something awesome, like that pretty plant over there! I am mostly a vegetarian and my stomach is built to digest tough plant matter. Oh how yummy ocean and sea plants are! I tend to be a loner, but I’m not really lonely. Victory! Once again I have won the race. It’s time to celebrate with graceful leaps and bounds from the water. The sun glints from my skin blinding future competitors. Did they really see a pink dolphin? Can it be true? You betcha!

A rarity of the seas. I just keep swimming and swimming and swimming. There is nothing I like better than to swim and train. Nobody can keep up to my speed and form. Nobody! Try it if you dare. I will only leave you behind in bubbles.

Shhhh! I have a secret! Just for you, come closer! *Whispers* Did you know that the best way to get extra treats is to simply bat your lashes, and cock your head ever so slightly? Watch me! I don't know why, they color their fur all the time. Ugh. What's a little green among friends? But I suppose the upside is that I can get another spa day out of it. Snow time! I live in the far north, a land of ice floes, periods of darkness and extreme cold. One needs thick fur and lots of fat to live in a place as cold as this. It is so pretty when the sun hits the snow, and you see a million sparkles, and at night, we watch the aurora borealis, magical lights dancing in the sky.

I am not big enough to catch fish, so my mom brings me freshly caught fish. As we eat together, we talk about the news in our world. Where a seal was seen, who else has a new cub, what the weather may do tomorrow.

When I tire from chasing snowflakes, I snuggle up with my mom. Have you seen my mom? She is huge and so warm.

When the danger has passed, I begin the final portion of my responsibility - checking on the damage which may have occurred. I am proud to be able to claim I have never had a pet harmed during my watch. Majority of any damage is restricted to the terrain alone. Once I have confirmed the results of the passed storm I am able to relax and unwind until the next shift begins.

Jump! Jumping is what rabbits do, they jump for happiness and jump to get over logs or puddles. This adorable pink rabbit wants to play jump rope with your pets. Coordination and strong limbs are something all pets can use.

This adorable Chihuahua may be tiny but it has a large personality and is fearless. With the ability to run fast and fit into the smallest of spaces, this little dog can teach your pets to be bold and confident.

This sweet raccoon cannot jump or run very fast but can climb well and is also a master of solving problems. With clever paws that can work doors and locks, the raccoon will not be deterred. Other pets could take some lessons on determination.

Hummmm… Bzzzzzzzz… If you are outside cat-napping on the porch and hear what sounds a bit like a bumblebee, have no fear; it’s only a little hummingbird. I’ve just stopped by to have a few sips of the perfectly sweetened sugar-water in the feeder. Thank you for not putting any coloring in it. I prefer it that way; nectar in flowers is clear and it is better for my health to have a natural diet. Due to the rapid beating of my wings I am in constant need of sugar for energy and I have the unique ability to turn nectar into fuel within thirty minutes.
I like my sugar-water to be clear but that doesn’t mean I don’t like color in other places, like my beautiful feathers. My pastel coloring is in beautiful shades of a sunrise, ranging from the golden glow of the sun to the soft pinks in the clouds of a morning sunrise. And I just love the way my feathers look iridescent in the sunlight. My beauty goes much deeper though. I am a very thankful bird and I will remember where your feeder is after my long migratory flight back from Central America. I will stay in your yard all summer and even bring my babies to see you and show them how nice you are.
