PnF Land may be peaceful now, but it was not always so.

Long ago, a serpent lived far out in the middle of the sea. This serpent was scaly, enormous and cranky. Oh, such a cranky serpent. It would thrash and rage about in the sea—churning up all sorts of debris from the sea bed, which made it difficult for the other sea creatures to live a life of joy. Occasionally, this serpent would head toward the land, which made even the land creatures nervous.

The sea sprites, cousins to the land fairies, decided it was time to do something, so they did. It took decades, but finally, they had an amulet that would keep the serpent calm and content to live peacefully with the other sea creatures. The sea sprites buried the amulet in a locked box deep under the sea floor. Since that day, no one has seen the serpent; it is thought to continue to live happily under the waves.

Not exactly; bears won’t come and eat these crops, at least I hope not; you are supposed to scare birds, especially crows.
Are you serious? Do you know how smart crows are? How is this adorable me supposed to scare anything?
Usually, it is the wind flapping the old clothes on scarecrows that are supposed to scare the birds, but in your case, you could flap your arms and maybe sing some songs.
That is not going to work. Birds—especially crows—will see I can’t run around the field; they will laugh at me. How about this for a plan? Get me down from here, and I will work in the morning and in the later afternoon to run around flapping my arms and yelling; that means I don’t have to sit up here on this horrible pole and be no use at all. The birds are scared away—hopefully—though they have to eat too, and I can have a nap in the afternoon and maybe some tea and scones.

When you happen upon a construction site, you may see some of these scattered around. They are barricades that signal you should not cross them. There may be danger behind the barricade, such as a big hole or materials strewn around the ground. Take care if you see a barricade like this one.

Do you need cement to make that patio or foundation for the house you are building? Then you need me. I am always happy to help out. Do you see that big drum on my back? That holds all the necessary materials, like limestone and clay, water and these big blades that go around and around and smush all the materials into a sludge that you call cement. So if you ever need to build something using cement, call on me, and I will head off down the road with my drum rotating and mixing. I love my work.

Rat-tat-tat, rat-tat-tat. Look at me smashing up this sidewalk. This is so much fun. It’s ok, this needed to be done. I am not randomly smashing up sidewalks or roads. This is my job, my only job, smashing things to make way for improving things. I can be noisy, so make sure to wear your ear protectors.

Look at the pretty coral and sea grasses under the water. I bet you would love to take a closer look, but first, you should prepare. A snorkel and goggles are the things you need. It will help you see underwater and breathe if you don’t dive too far down. Make sure to spit in your goggles so they don’t fog up, and if you don’t want to spit, use some liquid soap.

This splendid cage, skillfully made of black iron with purple accents and roses reaching up the base, is all set for you to place in a corner, in front of a window or up in the attic along with all the other items that are only used at certain times of the year. A moth has made its home inside; it is up to you if you want to disturb it.

PnF Land has dragons, of course, but those dragons are usually very friendly, and some are helpful. But, there is a tale of a dragon from long ago before PnF Land became established, and this dragon was said to fly the skies looking for treasure and burning down anything in its way. It makes one shudder to think about it.

The fairies who have lived in this area since, well, no one knows for sure, but they have been here forever. Well, these fairies worked for many years to create an amulet to keep the destructive dragon at bay. The amulet is buried in a locked chest somewhere in PnF Land.

If it's treasure you seek, don't forget me. A treasure chest is useless if you don't have the key. Excitement is building as you follow your map. Smooth sailing ahead, no time to look back. Will there be rubies or diamonds or pearls? Perhaps golden moles or platinum paws! Only one way to find out what your treasure will be; go on, turn my handle, unlock destiny.

Careful, I am sharp. See those ridges; those are my teeth. I am a hand saw, meant for one pet to use when they need to cut pieces of wood for making furniture or small projects. I bite into the wood firmly, and my handle is easy to grip.

Beep Beep, dumping in progress. I am a gravel truck. I carry gravel to building sites. Gravel is naturally occurring small rounded rocks, much bigger than sand but not as big as stones. Gravel has many uses, and I am happy to carry gravel around in the big container on my back. I need a strong human or pet to fill my container with gravel. I can do a neat trick; I can raise up and dump all that gravel exactly where you need it. I love feeling important and helpful.

Oh boy! I am all ready for a day of fun in the water. See, I have my flippers and my beach ring. I have been waiting for the perfect summer day to enjoy relaxing on the beach. First, I will spend some time floating in the waves. Next, I will dive below the water to see all the pretty fish. When I am hungry, I will visit the food stalls that line up on the beach and treat myself to some tasty summer food. Summer is the time I look forward to all year.

Have you ever seen a bear as a clown? No! I took on this part-time job to entertain pets who attend the rodeo. I have always liked to make pets and humans laugh, and though that is not usually something a bear is known for, I am told I can be quite hilarious. My duties include telling jokes, playing games with the audience, and doing short skits where I usually end up falling down. Have no worries; I don’t get hurt. My oversized pants and large floppy shoes are enough to make the small pets burst into gales of laughter.

I know some pets are timid and are not happy to see me, but I assure you I am all about having fun and making smiles appear. If you are a shy pet, close your eyes for a while and listen to the happiness around you.
