EXTRA Donor Reward!

Whew! You can see it, right? The little pink flower on top of my head. I have been growing in this pot for a long time. It is the perfect size for me. Set on a window ledge, soaking up the sun's warmth is pure bliss, and every now and then, a sprinkle of water keeps me hydrated.

Sometimes, I am placed outside where I can feel the breezes and enjoy the sounds of birds. I am happy, as happy as any little cactus could be. It is rare for a cactus to bloom, it can take a very long time, sometimes as much as 50 years, or it may never bloom.

I have put a lot of energy into that pink bloom. I would accept a hug, but my little prickles may tickle you; they keep me safe from bugs that may see me as a tasty snack. I hope to be able to bloom again for you one day.

It is so much fun romping around and learning to be a bull. I watch the other grown-up cows and bulls to get ideas of how to behave, sometimes I become distracted by a butterfly or a fly, and I take off as fast as I can—though my legs still get tangled sometimes—and I chase that insect all over the pasture.

When the farmer comes with a tasty treat, I am always curious, though I can’t say I love hay much; maybe it is an acquired taste. I love it when I get oats, they are sweet, and I could eat buckets of them.

I hope you and your pets can become friends with me. We could spend the day chasing each other around the paddock. We could paw the ground and look fierce and false-charge each other. Oh, and I am also learning to use my voice, so if you hear some strange sounds, please don’t laugh at me. It takes time to learn all these new things.

Pull up a stump and sit for a while. I can put some more logs on the campfire if you are chilly. The air in the forest can become quite cool in the summer or late at night. I love to come out here and sit and think.

This is nice; I am glad you could join me. Oh, that rustling in the bushes are just the small furry forest friends; usually, they would join me, but they are a bit shy and may take a while to become sure of you.

I may decide to go and pay a visit to some pet friends, or I may go collect berries; I love berries. There is also the possibility of going fishing in the river. Being a bear, I am curious about so many things. Sometimes my curiosity can get the better of me. So I am standing here and letting myself look out over the landscape and think about what I want to do. Sometimes being a bear means contemplating choices.
