Episode 1/29: Summer is the best time for sports festivals. There was a rumour that Sam was going to create one, but since Sam is a turtle, it wasn’t that hard to beat him to it. The Mouse in Trousers got there first! He announced the most auspicious event of the year, thus:

"There shall be a magnificent festival of sport, in which the Fast and the Furriest shall compete to win one of a magnificent set of racing cars!"

Episode 2/29: Sam wasn’t pleased. As Captain of the Power Pets Sports Club, he sees himself as the authority on sport. So he climbed onto the stage and said he should have been in charge. The Mouse replied, off mike:

"If I left it to you, the entire competition would have been fixed from the beginning. Your Champions would have won everything. I hate cheating! My sports festival will be FAIR!"

Flounder, who likes to have his nose in everything, had followed Sam to see what he was up to. He hid from the Mouse, and heard everything, but was not sure whether Sam had seen him or not.

Episode 3/29: Next day, Chiaroscuro was wandering through Weston Plaza when she saw a sign: "Snoopers wanted! Meet at the Drunken Dolphin!"

Thinking she would like to snoop on the snoopers, Chiaroscuro went along and found Flounder with some strange pets she had never seen before.

Episode 4/29: “Oh, have you come about the job?” asked Flounder, finally noticing Chiaroscuro. “We could do with a Escaped Aye-Aye in the team. We shall be trying to catch Sam’s Champions cheating in the games. Meet Pierre, Jasper and Brutus. They are all experts in their sports, but they haven’t been around here long. I want someone who knows Pets ‘n’ Friends inside out to take charge of them. You’ll do! Just take notes on what they discover and then report back to me. If those Champions cheat, I’m going to make sure they pay for it!”

Chiaroscuro said she didn’t like cheating either, so she gladly agreed.

Episode 5/29: Flounder took the team outside. “It’s going to be hard work keeping up with the flow of events,” he said, “so I have provided the team with a horse.”

“But we can’t cover all 15 events, even with a horse!” said Chiaroscuro.

“Right, this team will be investigating Opal Tossing, the Dog-Athlon and Weightlifting,” said Flounder. “There are bound to be expenses and you deserve a reward, so I shall be paying you in gems.

Episode 6/29: At the inaugural ceremony, all the competitors were gathered before the Mouse in Trousers, who had dressed in a wig to show the competitor’s oath would be legally binding. “As sole author of rules and regulations, I require you to repeat after me: I shall not cheat or play tricks on my opponents!”

As Chiaroscuro listened, she thought she could hear some deliberate mumbling, and saw quite a few paws being crossed behind the backs of the Champions.

“And don’t think you can get away with mumbling!” said the Mouse. “Rule 1: you must take the oath! If you don’t take it you are out, and if you break it you’re out. I’ve got you both ways!” Chiaroscuro suppressed a laugh as she noticed Sam the Turtle rolling his eyes. “May the Fast and Furriest pets win!” said the Mouse.

Episode 7/29: Hiding behind the curtain, the crew watched intently as Gurty prepared for the weightlifting. They watched Gurty take special care of the weights backstage while the competition was running. It was very evident to them all, that Gurty was actually tampering with the weights. Chiaroscuro raced off to inform Flounder of the findings.

Episode 8/29: What happened during the weightlifting event kept the pets guessing for some time. Gurty was watched very closely but everything seemed fairly normal, despite the huge lift in the weights. But, what is that? A mobile phone? Yes, Chiaroscuro noticed Gurty had put STRONG magnets under the podium. She could easily turn them off with the mobile when her turn arrived. CHEATER!!!!!

Episode 9/29: It was total chaos at the dogathon. Dogs scattered everywhere except in the water where they were meant to carry out their trial. Yap’s been at it again! Yap convinced everyone that his pretend sharks are real and we all know what sharks think of them. How do I explain this one, Jasper thought, as he raced off to tell Horse. It was Horse’ job to let Flounder know his fears that the champion was cheating, were true.

Episode 10/29: We all know how easy it is to distract a dog, especially when there is food around. That is why no food is provided at the course. It is so very important to concentrate on the task at hand. There are hoops to jump through, posts to walk along and many other fun manoeuvres on the course. Horse and the crew watched from the sidelines as Yap laid out a table full of fresh cooked sausages to try to distract his opponents. AND, of course, that is exactly what happened.

Episode 11/29: Horse, Chiaroscuro and the rest of the crew cannot believe their eyes when they see Marvin’s opals appear to have wings. It seems Marvin has developed a flying opal in his secret underground lair. He sprinkles them with fairy dust, the little wings pop out and there they go, sailing through the air, beyond all and every previously tossed opal.

Episode 12/29: If you want to win, you have to take full advantage of every opportunity. And that is exactly what Marvin has done. Flounder would be quite astonished to see how this event panned out. Marvin is very happy with the altered opal tossing course he created for the competition. Chiaroscuro slips away quietly and climbs on Horse, and together they try to find Flounder to impart their findings.

Episode 13/29: Marvin sends the competitors opals up into the air just before the contest starts. There is a time limit for each competitor to toss their opal and as each one times out, Marvin gets more and more excited. The crew are not at all surprised to learn Marvin is the undisputed winner. He was the ONLY entrant who managed to toss an opal.

Episode 14/29: The opal tossing event had been underway for some time, but scoring wasn’t high at all. The team begin to question if everything is going according to plan. Apparently it is, but not the original event plan. Something fishy is going on yet again. Jasper did some sniffing around and bingo, he spots movement in the bushes. Yup, yup, yap …..Jasper catches Marvin watching to see if the holes he made in the course trap the opals. By the grin on his face, it seems he likes what he sees.

Episode 15/29: Swoosh through the air went the opals. A very pleased Marvin confidently waited for the scores to go up on the board, knowing full well his chances of winning were extremely high. It seems Marvin went out late at night and dug holes past his best throw, so if any opal landed further than his, they would disappear.

Episode 16/29: While Marvin was being cheered by the crowd, Jasper whispered into Brutus’ ear that something fishy was definitely going on. Marvin appeared to have full control over the Opal but each of the other contestants was having trouble holding onto theirs as they went to toss it. On closer inspection, it seems Marvin had put grease on his competitors opals. Chiaroscuro thought it was rather odd that Marvin was able to get away with greasing the opals, but she was also certain Jasper, Brutus and Pierre seemed to be taking notes about what they had seen.

Episode 17/29: Is there nothing Marvin won’t do to win? Now he has convinced the opposition they have to bury the opals (after all they are jewels) instead of tossing them. The crew ask each other how long this has been going on, because they always thought Marvin was a true champion. Now, it seems, Flounder was right to ask them to watch him, because he is nothing but a big cheat!

Episode 18/29: Brutus, Jasper and Pierre hid behind the trees as they tailed Marvin. What they witnessed was worthy of being reported back to Flounder, because they discovered that night that Marvin replaced the opposition opals with very heavy cannonballs.

Episode 19/29: Marvin convinces the opposition that the event will NOT be held in the rain. Because of this, all the contestants go home. Naturally it means Marvin is the only entrant, which means of course, he wins. While he is feeling smug at his victory, the team ask Horse to go inform Flounder of today’s event. Chiaroscuro has already beaten horse to it.

Episode 20/29: It was a fairly sad day of competition as entrants in the opal tossing event didn’t seem to have the ability to toss very far. Pierre was the first to notice an awful lot of banging was going on just behind the contestants. As he conveyed this information to Brutus, Jasper took a closer look, only to find Marvin was popping balloons which startled the contestants. In the meantime, “Horse” had already galloped away to inform Flounder what was happening.

Episode 21/29: The team are rather baffled as to why there is little activity at this event today? Horse is nowhere in sight, and neither are the contestants other than Marvin, who is looking very confident indeed. Marvin knows he has this in the bag, because the competition are fast asleep in his hole after he put sleeping tablets in their nightly warm milk!

Episode 22/29: Pierre, Brutus and Jasper sent Horse on the way to let Flounder know the opal tossing event was not going very well at all. They are convinced there has been foul play when setting up the course. Marvin, meanwhile, knows he is going to win this because all the competitors opals are melting. Marvin was so proud of his great idea to substitute them with snowballs!

Episode 23/29: How much confusion can one Mole create? Chiaroscuro looked on as entrants tried to figure out just what opal tossing was all about. Information that was given to Jasper and the others, was that Marvin had buried the opals and then told the competitors it was no longer a throwing contest, but a digging contest instead. It seems Horse has been spending an awful lot of time galloping back and forth to let Flounder know of their findings.

Episode 24/29: Opals are very pretty gems. When they sail through the air in the toss events, they glisten in the sunlight and the further they go, the more they glisten. For this reason, Marvin needs to divert the competition and he does so with a wheelbarrow full of jewels. Dazzled, each contestant tosses his opal as quickly as possible so that the barrow of jewels can be inspected closely.

Episode 25/29: The Fast and Furriest Games were all over bar the prize giving. The team had collected a vast dossier of information. It was all Chiaroscuro could do to remember all the details when she reported back to Flounder with the rest of the team.

Episode 26/29: The Mouse in Trousers was disappointed that the Champions had won all the events. "Still," he said to himself, "at least I forced them to win honestly. That's all that matters."

"Wait a minute!" said Flounder. "I have in my fins a vast dossier listing countless ways in which these pets have CHEATED!"

The Mouse was overjoyed. "Rule 1!" he cried. "No cheating!"

"We mumbled the oath!" replied the Champions. "We never took it!"

"Rule 1 also says you can't compete if you didn't take the oath!" said the Mouse triumphantly. "You're not only disqualified, you are under a life time ban from any event held by me!"

The Champions exited the stage, moaning and groaning.

Episode 27/29: “But what shall I do with the race cars?” wondered the Mouse in Trousers.

“Is it too late to have a Rule 2?” asked Flounder. “Not if Rule 2 says it isn’t too late,” replied the Mouse. “Rule 2; rules can only be added before the prizes have been given, and snoopers get cheats' prizes!” said Flounder.

The Mouse was overjoyed. Each of the team stepped forward to receive a race car, even though the Mouse had to get an extra one for Chiaroscuro.

Episode 28/29: Back at the Club House, Sam the Turtle was incandescent.

“**** the Mouses’ rules!” he yelled. (He was having some trouble with the swearing filter). “I say again ****! What are the rules of the Power Pets Sports Club?”

The Champions looked crestfallen, but had to reply: “There is only one rule: never get caught.”

“****, ***** and ******!” roared Sam. “You’re all fired!”

Episode 29/29: "There!" said the Mouse, triumphantly. "Not one of the prizes was won by the Power Pets Sports Club! Hee hee!"

But Sam rudely pushed him aside and took the stage. "Ladies and Gentlepets," he announced. "Meet the NEW Champions of the Power Pets Sports Club! Not only among the very best at their sports, but traitors, tell-tales and tricksters! A wet fish not far from here thought he had got one over on me, snooping on the Champions ... but I sent him my own team of Snoopers! EVERY prize goes to the Power Pets Sports Club!"

Chiaroscuro thought she heard Sam smirk "... and it always will!" under his breath.

Flounder looked like he was upside down floating in a bowl. "You did a great job, Chiaroscuro" he said. "So you still deserve a special reward of 20GM. I just let myself get tricked into choosing a team of cheats for snoopers."

The Mouse could not hold back the tears. "Rule 3," he sobbed. "Snoopers can't be winners. Next time, next time ..."
