Rex steps off the boat onto Aegis with fellow traveller Yuki. Time for a look around, but first a long stretch after the voyage!

This rocky bay provides the perfect place for anypet to rest, play with the numerous pebbles and watch the changing patterns of sunlight on the stone outcrops and distant peaks, or perhaps to dip a cautious paw into the unceasing sea waves running in and back out.

The tranquility of the scene they had stumbled across made Rex and Moriarty feel like they were the only pets left in PnF Land...

Anypet will enjoy exploring the sand dunes with their sharply pointed grey-green leaves and large spikes of creamy-yellow flowers of marram grass in the summer, the backdrop to a sandy beach and the sea.

Rex was surprised to meet Krazy Kitten here! But they were both delighted to find plenty of travel tokens!

This beautiful little bay is irresistible to pets who can’t wait to scamper or flap over the golden sand to get to the top of the stony peninsula and gaze far out to the horizon over the sea.

Of all the pets Rex might have met here, Hope was the last he expected. But what a great view!

A feat of engineering that certainly stands out in the countryside. It’s a place to stop and dream of where the trains thundering past will be going!

Rex moved on to shake the next paw, oblivious to the fact that he'd also shaken Chip, who had wandered off to pick wildflowers along the way...

Rex and Dragondrop pool their small change, hoping to buy some small souvenirs to remind them of this place!

While Rex soaked in the view, Caroline Piper was searching his backpack for the bug spray, certain that his fur would be crawling with little biting critters once the sun went down!

A well-trodden path, with the company of sheep along the way, provides a view of the lake and distant hills. What lies behind that tempting bend in the way, I wonder?

As birds fly home to roost and busy pets retire for the night, the West Pasture in Aegis becomes darker and quiet in the setting sun, waiting for the first stirrings from nocturnal pets who are active during the night.

While Rex was whistling through his teeth as they ambled through another breathtaking scene, star was secretly wishing he had packed ear plugs, or gaffer tape for Rex's mug!

Rex gazed around in awe, while Maple mumbled and grumbled about Rex's shortcut being no shortcut at all, if the blisters on his paws were anything to go by!

Rex was surprised to meet lily monet here! But they were both delighted to find plenty of travel tokens!

On Sunday afternoons, many pets take an excursion in the formal gardens, which display the Dutch influence of bright tulips making a fine splash of colour against the immaculate lawn.

Rex was becoming increasingly irritated with the constant clicking and beeping of Dusty's camera disturbing the peace and quiet, so Rex moved purposefully on without him!

@ Island: Aegis
Rex finally makes it back to the landing stage, where Nutsy Mouse is also about to embark and go home. What an adventure it has been! Rex pockets a map of Aegis as a momento. The guidebook says:

When their vessel carefully manoeuvres past the rocks to reach the landing stage, the pets can jump out and explore this delightful little island. There are beautiful, relaxing sandy beaches, rocky hills to climb, a viaduct and old castle ruin to explore, green pastures to take a picnic hamper, woods and forests to ramble in, rivers to jump over, apples to pick and there are flowers galore!
