@ Scarlet Pathway
Samwise Gamgee and Hansi (Icky Bird Who Can't Fly) are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!

As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

@ Illusion of Nightfall
“I could stay here forever, Samwise Gamgee,” said poddu laddoo. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, poddu laddoo. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Samwise Gamgee.

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
"Put your camera down for a minute, Samwise Gamgee," said Stingray Mulder, "and just drink in that view!"

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
While Samwise Gamgee stood drinking in the amazing view, Unigy searched in her backpack for her camera, eager to capture the scene!

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
Samwise Gamgee and Lucky, having shaken paws, got so engrossed in conversation about the beautiful scenery that they had to hurry along so as not to be left behind! They regretfully bade au revoir and auf Wiedersehen to each other!

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
strips and Samwise Gamgee shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
chendler and Samwise Gamgee counted out their silver moles and bought some of the harvest food. “That one wins first prize for me!” declared chendler.

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Samwise Gamgee to DILLIGAS.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Samwise Gamgee was excited by seeing all the different harvest produce. “I’m going to apply for an allotment and start growing my own food!” he announced to Shenanigan, when they met and shook paws.

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Samwise Gamgee. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
Rampage sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

Summer greeted Samwise Gamgee cheerily, recommending he expended some silver moles on the fresh harvest food before them.

Garth bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Garth?” asked Samwise Gamgee.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Garth.

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
Samwise Gamgee and paws shook paws, said “How do you do?” and posed for a souvenir photo. “Why am I always on the left?” grumbled Samwise Gamgee. “Let’s change sides.”
“No,” said paws. “This is my best side.”

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

“What an amazing view!” exclaimed Samwise Gamgee after shaking paws with Molly, who agreed with him. Samwise Gamgee was excited to meet up again with Molly. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

“What’s this flower called?” Samwise Gamgee said to Calvin. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Calvin and hastily changed the subject.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

"This is a glorious specimen, Choco", observed Samwise Gamgee. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Samwise Gamgee?" said Choco. "Buy a garden gnome!"

"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Zubi.
"Well," said Samwise Gamgee, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

Sparkles shook paws with Samwise Gamgee and was just enjoying the view when she was distracted by loud rustling as Samwise Gamgee unfolded a very lengthy Autumn Experience itinerary, in the course of which he succeeded in knocking Sparkles’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” snapped Sparkles. “I’m about to take a photo of this amazing scene—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”
Feathery Plumes in Pink
Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

@ Autumn in Purple
Samwise Gamgee is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Mordred comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Mordred. Samwise Gamgee looks down and sees something valuable. Mordred generously lets Samwise Gamgee keep it!
