Tiger and Spirit are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Red
Fall foliage in striking hues of red and orange will be seen all around on this tour along the riverbank. Your pet can collect pine cones, sample wild berries and currants, view beautiful plants in purple and red, and perhaps spot some exotic birdlife! Everypet will enjoy lingering on the bridge to view the peaceful scene as the sun goes down turning the river pink as it does so ...
PnF Meeting House
Before we begin the journey we need to check-in here to pick up a trail map and some travel snacks. Be sure to sign the register with how many are in your travel party and how long you plan to be on the trail. Don't forget to take a potty break before you head out!

Episode 2/25

@ Sleepy River Sunrise
lily monet was hailed by Tiger, who had also just arrived on the scene. “What a great view, lily monet!” said Tiger. “I could stay here for hours!”

The sun is just beginning to illuminate the sky, casting a warm glow on the sleepy river and the sleepy pets in the village. We begin our journey early in the cool of the day as the PnF weatherpet has predicted an unusually warm autumn day ahead.

@ Sunrise Silhouette
Koo was hailed by Tiger, who had also just arrived on the scene. “What a great view, Koo!” said Tiger. “I could stay here for hours!”

As the sun continues to rise and the chill of the morning gives way, some of the hikers begin to shed their warm jackets and stuff them in their packs. A lone plant is dramatically silhouetted in the sun's golden light.

@ Autumn Stillness
Tiger gazed at the scene around him in awe, while Hester grumbled a little about Tiger's so-called shortcut, if her blisters were anything to go by!

As we behold the beauty of the golden leaves in the nearby trees, some clouds have rolled in, obscuring the sun for a bit. Some small fish in the river below are dining on insects that skim along the surface, creating little ripples on the calm water.

@ Orange Splendor
Tiger gazed at the scene around him in awe, while Dahlia grumbled a little about Tiger's so-called shortcut, if her blisters were anything to go by!

The glorious colors of autumn overflow in profusion along the trail prompting a chorus of 'oohs' and 'ahs' among the travelers. We pause and stare in rapturous awe for a moment before proceeding.

@ Ginger Root
“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Tiger.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Firefly.
Ginger Root
Ginger root is a well-known natural remedy for some common ailments. If you are prone to stomach upset and indigestion, nibbling on a small piece of raw ginger or drinking ginger tea can help alleviate your symptoms. But it is most useful on the journey as it helps your body to recover from muscle soreness after over-exertion. It will definitely come in handy today!

@ Japanese Maple in Orange
“I’ve written a postcard to Mrs Eucalyptus about this amazing Autumn Experience!” said Tiger. “She’ll wish she were here! Where’s the nearest postbox?”
Phimi ツ shielded her eyes and rotated 360°, elaborately scanning the horizon. “I don’t know how it comes about, but they appear not to have thought to provide a postbox here, Tiger. How remiss of them!” Seeing Tiger’s ears beginning to droop, Phimi ツ added, “Don’t worry, you can post your card after this leg of the Experience!”

An important reminder when one is out on an adventure: remember to look up! There is so much beauty around us, we don't want to miss any of it, especially when it is something as wonderful as the sun's rays filtering through the orange leaves of this Japanese Maple tree.

Tiger and CatchThis18 had shaken paws and took some time to enjoy the super view in a companionable silence!

See, glancing upward occasionally does have its benefits! As we continue along the trail we see a different variety of Japanese Maple, no less beautiful than the orange one. A treat to our eyes, this one is adorned in a fabulous crimson red.

@ Delightful Dahlia
“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Tiger to Muschi.

The PnF gardener has done a fabulous job landscaping along the trail. Pots of flowers have been placed throughout to display an array of vivid autumn colors. This deep pink hued dahlia is delightful!

@ Marvelous Magenta Flower
"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Meowchi.
"Well," said Tiger, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

This stunning magenta floral specimen is a real show-stopper! It's simply 'mauvelous,' isn't it!

@ Nectar Delight
“I’m going to ask if I can take a cutting of this,” Spyder said to Tiger. “This would look just fine in a half barrel in my front garden!”

Be still and maybe it won't see you. Look over there on that red flower. It's a Micronesian Myzomela, and I almost didn't see it as it is somewhat camouflaged by the wispy red flowers it is sipping nectar from.

@ Red Berries
"This is a glorious specimen, Wuzzle", observed Tiger. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Tiger?" said Wuzzle. "Buy a garden gnome!"

@ Basket of Pine Cones
“Hey, Bonny!” called out Tiger. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”
Bonny was glad to rest and enjoy the food Tiger shared with her.

According to the note attached to the basket, each of us is supposed to take a pine cone and plant the seeds in the designated area ahead. A park ranger will give us instructions when we get there. A pine forest covered in fresh snowfall is one of the most beautiful sights to see in winter. I'm happy to help add to that beauty!

@ Magnificent Maple
Tiger and Layla were so rapt gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to shake paws before moving on to the next stage!

The unmistakable fragrance of roses captures my attention as I leave the wooded area. I look down to see a beautiful arrangement of autumn-hued roses in a white ceramic pot.

@ Perfect Spot for a Campsite
“Time to move on and shake the next paw!” observed Tiger. Foxy Rex agreed, but said he was going to stay here awhile and collect pine cones.

“Hey, Smoki!” called out Tiger. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”

@ Shiny Redcurrant Berries
Elmeri and Tiger, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Tiger. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Wild redcurrants can be found all over the countryside. They look temptingly sweet to eat, but these shiny red berries are usually made into redcurrant jelly because of their tartness.

@ Red and Purple Leafy Vine
"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Faεяydaε" said Tiger. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Tiger! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

Growing on the side of the bridge is a mass of deep red and purple leafy vines. Deep blue berries hang in bunches just waiting to be eaten.

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused ❤️Snuggles.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Tiger. "Is he on this tour?"

Clover and Tiger shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

@ Teasels and Carnations
“These make a fine display, don’t they, Tiger?” said why.way, when she and Tiger had shaken paws.

Teasel weeds are a very common roadside plant. They look beautiful for being a weed, don't they? They are a favorite among crafters as they can be dried and painted any color. These lovely bi-color pink carnations pair perfectly with the purple painted teasels.

"Fox, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Tiger.

A sea of red leaves act as the perfect backdrop to showcase yet another patch of little blue berries. I'm not hungry so I'll leave these for another traveler.

Tiger is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Cherry comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Cherry. Tiger looks down and sees something valuable. Cherry generously lets Tiger keep it!
