The first painted eggs came from Mesopotamia, and because eggs were forbidden food during Lent, people painted eggs while Lent was being observed—after Lent, they would eat the eggs on Easter Day.

Beautifully decorated eggs “pysanka” are associated with Ukraine, and the oldest painted egg that was unearthed in northern Ukraine is dated to the end of the 17th century.

"Never mind, Ziggy," sympathised Azul. "It's ages till we set off back, and with lots of walking around visiting the different creatures, you'll feel as right as rain in no time!"

"Oh, I couldn't resist going to that street exhibition of art by local pets. I grabbed a cheese and onion pasty from a street vendor. Anyway, what did you both have to eat?"
"We had celery soup and a sandwich each. It was great!" responded Choose a name.

Smoothie glanced up from her tour guide, in which she had been looking up where they were going the next day. “How come you're so hungry, Azul?”
Azul pouted. "I was just unwrapping my lunch pack when a creature ran down the tree behind me, grabbed the lot and shot back up the tree!"
"Bad luck!" sympathised Smoothie. "Here, have a banana to keep you going."

“Ooh, it's just starting to get a bit cool, Azul!” said Midnight Majesty. “Can you hold my map and itinerary while I dig out my scarf?"
Azul good-naturedly took charge of Midnight Majesty's possessions while he emptied his rucksack of a pack of sandwiches wrapped in greaseproof paper, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of chocolate peanuts, a paperback thriller, a bottle of orange squash, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old bus tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some very old receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and salad cream before locating the scarf right at the bottom. This he donned and then Azul helped him put everything back in his rucksack.

Well, not just an ordinary cicada, I'm a Canthgaster Cicada! Look at me with my nose in the air, why, some might think I'm a bit stuffy! But honestly, I'm just following my nose to the best eating spots!

Azul and Moon agreed that the variety of environments on their expedition was the best ever! Azul and Moon exchanged opinions on which their favourite terrain had been so far, and which was the most interesting creature they had met in their travels!

Daisy was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Azul unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Daisy’s sunhat off.
“Put that away, do!” said Daisy, in some irritation. “We’re about to pose with this amazing creature—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”

Nocturnal by nature, you'll find me hiding by day in the dark leafy greens in your garden. We tried to ramp up our street cred by saying we were vampires, but we lacked the fangs to back up the claim.

Valley Between the Hills
The hidden valley between these hills is a popular locale for the smaller pets of PnF. Housing a city most pets overlook, the tiny prints of pets have made history with the largest tiny museum, art gallery, and comedy club in existence.

Azul has enjoyed meeting "Exotic" pets, but it is time to go home now! All Creatures Great and Small is over now, but there will be more events in PnF soon!
