“Well that explains how you appeared out of the ether. You are in the Mushroom Fairy Forest. Come. Come meet my friends.”

The friends followed the flitting fairy as it flew through the forest and before they knew it they were in a clearing of the forest where mushrooms still grew but there were houses and cauldrons and lots of items that could only be described as sparkly items.
“Is this your home?”
“Yes, we all live here and together we brew up magical potions to keep the forest alive. It is so much fun. A new experiment every day!”
The friends looked at one another: To them that sounded like work and continual cooking. Not much fun at all.
“Please join us for a feast. We have enough to share.”

There were no tables and chairs for them to sit upon. Instead there were logs and stumps that the friends sat upon. Various fairies brought them mushroom upon mushroom. Every course of the feast was a mushroom of sort!

“COFFEE!” exclaimed Half Caf. “Yes please!” He still was hurting over his spilled coffee from earlier.

Half Caf stared at the fairies in disbelief. Mushroom coffee? That was a thing? This truly was not a place for him or his friends. This would not do. They did not belong here. How would he survive drinking mushroom coffee?

“We are trying to figure out where we best belong and well this looks like a grand place for penguins like us. And, well, maybe Braeden could learn to love it here and maybe their family and friends could come for visits”
“But, but, but!”
“Welcome! You have landed in Petarctica! Come join our colony. My name is Captain Anders. Let me show you around a bit.”

With that the penguins flopped onto their bellies and slid down the hill leaving poor Braeden to come tumbling after them.

“Ahhh yes! I see today we get some delightful fish and cocktails for lunch.”
Set in front of each of the friends was an Arctic Iceberg and a fish. They dug in with glee.
“OW! Is this fish frozen?!?”
“Well of course. You do feel the temperature out here. We have no way of heating anything.”
“How do you not break your beak?” exclaimed Spike.
“I guess a mug of coffee is off the menu.” mumbled Half Caf.

“Yes, I know they are penguins and as penguins we should feel as if this is the place for at least Half Caf and myself but something feels wrong. I don’t like whatever has been happening but somehow I sort of hope it happens again and we either end up at home or where we belong.”

The friends came to a clearing at the base of what yes indeed was a volcano where surprisingly they saw more penguins. And this is Braeden and Half Caf. Sorry to crash the celebration you are all having but we landed out of who knows where and we heard, and smelled your party here and had to check it out.”

“Good! The catch of the day is ready!” Plates of fresh charred fish quickly replaced the empty fruit plates.
“Excuse me,” inquired Half Caf. “Might there be anything to drink to help wash down this exquisite feast?”
“Of course! Of course! Only the best Hawaiian Kona blend coffee for our friends”

What is there to do? And Braeden, they miss their friends and family. I think we need to find a way to get them home.”
“Sigh…you may be right. What if we ask the penguins here? Maybe they can enlighten us on activities that would hold your interest and perhaps they know how to get Braeden home. You must admit this whole day has been mysterious and I don’t think it is just the head injury.”

“Oh yes little one. When things quiet down here you can actually here the beach from here. You can hear the waves crash and the yelps and yells of the young ones having fun. Young ones much like yourselves.”
“Really? Do you think you could show us where this is? This sounds like this could be fun and adventurous!” exclaimed Spike, who in his excitement forgot all about trying to get Braeden home.
“It’s just a short waddle right through this trail here. Let’s go!”

Spike and Half Caf had finally found where in the pet world they belonged. Spike had grabbed and surfboard and paddled out to sea and was riding the waves like a natural with the other penguins. Half Caf spent all of his time relaxed on the beach at the coffee hut trying every possible concoction he could ever dream of. Who knew that coffee overload could be such a thing? But mocha slushies were so good under the tropical sun!
Now you might be asking about Braeden. We have not forgotten about Braeden. They too tried surfing and also enjoyed all the coffee but this island still does not feel like home. And still their friends and family were just too important.
