@ Tunnel of Maple Trees
Pengu and COVID-19 are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Amber
Autumn has well been described by Keats as the "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" and pets will here enjoy a ramble through woods with tumbling golden and orange leaves. They can gather hazelnuts, horse chestnuts and fruits, and perhaps forage for mushrooms and dill. Then there are vast fields of wild flowers to explore, and an opportunity to admire the sunset while resting by a rustic barn. Watch your paws or claws crossing the river on the stepping stones—but perhaps splashing in the swirling water is part of the fun!

As you near this autumn realm and hear the thunder of the falls close by, you get to walk through a vividly colorful tunnel of maple leaves with the light of the evening sun at the tunnel's end to attract you further.

Episode 2/25

@ Silhouette of Flowers at Sunset
Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Pengu on to get to the next stop on the Autumn Experience. However, sprout sat down, insisting on a rest and complaining of blisters!

As you step out of the tunnel of fall-colored leaves, you are greeted with even more beauty to behold as you see flowers silhouetted by the setting sun. Now you know that the day's journey is almost done!

@ Sunset Across the Field
Pengu opened her rucksack to change her hat. Shadow could see Pengu had a baseball cap, a sombrero, a beret, a straw boater, a cricket cap, a sou'wester, a large, floppy sunhat and a pith helmet!
“Did you bring a mortarboard too?” Shadow asked Pengu.

As you look further past where you are now standing, you see a vast farm field to cross with welcoming trees and hillsides awaiting.

"Put your camera down for a minute, Pengu," said Dilly, "and just drink in that view!"

You pause for a moment to make sure that the pictures you've been taking of your breath-taking journey today have been capturing what your eyes have been seeing. Even though there is so much beauty for just two eyes to take in, you are pleased with your photos thus far, especially of the light at the end of the tunnel of maple trees!

@ Handful of Horse Chestnuts
“Hey, Ada!” called out Pengu. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”
Ada was glad to rest and enjoy the food Pengu shared with her.

Not only were you enveloped with maple trees, but you also saw some chestnut trees mixed within, and so you grabbed a handful of chestnuts as a souvenir!

@ Bouquet of Fall Flowers
“What’s this flower called?” Pengu said to SPARKLES. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said SPARKLES and hastily changed the subject.

As you left the woods, with another tree line to your left, you noticed some large blooms of wildflowers along the edge of the trees, and so you picked a few to spruce up your room when you settle in later in the evening.

"No, Frosty, what does it need?"
"Nothing, Pengu. This scene is flawless!"

As you continue through the field, you choose to leave the daintier purple flowers alone, simply enjoying their fragrance and their beauty in the evening sun.

“What’s this flower called?” Pengu said to Midnight. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Midnight and hastily changed the subject.

With all of the flowers you are admiring, you almost forgot the ones you picked up in the autumn realm of green that morning. You check to be sure they are still fresh - and they are! - and remember that you have a note to fill out for tonight's host.

@ Wild White Mushrooms
sprout and Pengu counted out their silver moles and bought some of the harvest food. “That one wins first prize for me!” declared sprout.

Continuing on the path, you notice along the tree line something white. Not sure if you were seeing flowers, you approach and find that they are wild mushrooms, the edible kind, and so you grab a few to add to a possible stew later in the evening!

Pengu had to travel on alone, as BRUNO declared he had found paradise, and had no intention of moving on!

"This is a glorious specimen, Melinda", observed Pengu. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Pengu?" said Melinda. "Buy a garden gnome!"

“Let’s pose with one of us at each side and I’ll set the self-timer to take a shot,” said Pengu to Catalina. “It’ll be a wonderful souvenir of our time here!”

As you look to your left, with the waterfall thundering to your right, you see how swiftly the river runs past you as you ensure you have enough stepping stones to get across. One wrong step and you may be staying somewhere further south than you planned!

@ Orange You Glad It's Snack Time?
Pengu and CUPID shook paws before sitting down to enjoy an autumnal harvest snack. “There’s nothing like farm-fresh food, is there, Pengu?” said CUPID.

As you settle in on your second rock in your river crossing, you remember that your host from last night in the autumn realm of green gave you fresh oranges plucked right off of a tree in their own backyard! Time to get refreshed!

As you make your way to the next rock, you noticed flower blooms and leaves floating by. The leaves may have fallen from trees and were blown into the water, perhaps before the waterfall. You stretch out your paw and snag a twig of orange-colored leaves to stick out of your backpack!

“I’m going to ask if I can take a cutting of this,” Bolla said to Pengu. “This would look just fine in a half barrel in my front garden!”

After you cross to your next rock, with the shore almost within reach, you decide to add to your collection of souvenirs by grabbing some of the plucked blooms floating by and wrapping them in paper for safe keeping. These were put in the water by young pets in the autumn realm of green, hoping they would float and float for a long distance.

@ Plenty of Nuts
Midnight and Pengu, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Pengu. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

As you jump and thump from rock to rock, you check your supply of hazelnuts after noticing you hadn't closed your container as well as you thought! Whew! Most are still there!

@ Red and Yellow Flower
Hazel bent down to sniff the flower in front of her but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Hazel?” asked Pengu.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Hazel.

As you land on the last rock, you notice a huge bloom coming your way on the water. It bumps into the rock, making it an easy grab with your paw!

@ Almost there!
Pengu thought the scenery at this new stop was lovely and asked Noodles if it would be possible to set up camp for the night!

As you step onto the shore, you continue to enjoy the sunset and notice the host home close by! What a welcome sight after a long, but joyful day of hiking into a new realm!

Inspired by the sunny day, Kuro said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Pengu took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Kuro hastily revised his romantic harvest vision.

Next, you encounter bins of ginger and lemons, left by your host - perfect for the bread you plan to bake, as well as for the delicious tea you hope to make in the morning!

“This reminds me of Meadowlands,” observed Pengu, musing as she and Sir Barkey Barksalot took a moment to admire the produce beside them. “Such a lovely, peaceful scene.”

Pengu is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Maxwell comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Maxwell. Pengu looks down and sees something valuable. Maxwell generously lets Pengu keep it!
