@ Scarlet Pathway
Damian and Emily are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!

As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
“What have you got in your tote bag, Vinny the collector?” asked Damian. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything the weather can throw at us, Damian,” responded Vinny the collector. “There’s deck shoes, snowshoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, flippers, walking boots, Wellington boots—you name them, I’ve got them!”
Illusion of Nightfall
Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Damian was in a hurry to move along and shake some more paws, but Kitty decided to stay where he was for a while, and sketch the scenery for this week's Art Challenge!

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
While Damian stood drinking in the amazing view, W Axl Fox searched in his backpack for his camera, eager to capture the scene!

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
"Put your camera down for a minute, Damian," said piper, "and just drink in that view!"

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
Armenia and Damian, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Damian. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
“This reminds me of Meadowlands,” observed Damian, musing as she and Norris took a moment to admire the produce beside them. “Such a lovely, peaceful scene.”

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“These make a fine display, don’t they, Damian?” said Leena, when she and Damian had shaken paws.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Inspired by the sunny day, Sam said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Damian took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Sam hastily revised his romantic harvest vision.
Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

@ Purple Potpourri
Shamika and Damian shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

“Great to meet you again, Darby!” said Damian. “Come and have some of this farm-grown organic food—it’s absolutely yummy!”

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
“Time to move on and shake the next paw!” observed Damian. Chipilona agreed, but said she was going to stay here awhile and collect pine cones.

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

Damian and Mr. Dylan were entranced at reaching this stopping place and eagerly posed for a picture!

@ Purple Rose Bouquet
“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Kronk.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Damian. "Is he on this tour?"

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

~meepop~ bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, ~meepop~?” asked Damian.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said ~meepop~.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, fancy" said Damian. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Damian! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Damian.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Dragondrop.

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Starlite.
"Well," said Damian, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

@ Feathery Plumes in Pink
Damian and Batty agreed that the variety of scenery on their Autumn Experience trip was the best ever! They exchanged opinions on which their favourite scene had been so far, and which was the most delicious harvest food they had eaten in their travels!

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Damian is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Splash comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Splash. Damian looks down and sees something valuable. Splash generously lets Damian keep it!
