“I could stay here forever, Hōseki,” said Archie. “This is an amazing place!” “Well, you never know what lies ahead, Archie. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Hōseki.

Hōseki and Ucil agreed that the variety of environments on their expedition was the best ever! Hōseki and Ucil exchanged opinions on which their favourite terrain had been so far, and which was the most interesting creature they had met in their travels!

@ Snow Goose Station
Hōseki opened his rucksack to change his hat. HappyCheerling could see Hōseki had a large, floppy sunhat, a balaclava, a rain hat, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a swimming cap! “Did you bring a fez too?” HappyCheerling asked Hōseki.

Snowy white with a splash of orange for a beak and legs these geese can truly sneak up on you on a winter day. At least they do not have quite the same reputation as their Canadian counterparts *wink wink*

@ Chickadee dee dee dee Central
Hōseki and Astrid got so engrossed in the conversation they were having with their fascinating new friend that they had to hurry along so as not to be left behind! They regretfully bade farewell to their new chum and promised to visit again!

“Shall we take a selfie?” Hōseki asked Wyatt as they drank in the scenery and admired their new friend next to them.

The kings of the north reside here. While they appear large and overbearing they truly can be friendly and will invite you in for halibut.

Hōseki was excited to meet up again with Midnight Bleu. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

@ Floating Swan Lake
“Shall we take a selfie?” Hōseki asked Khisanth as they drank in the scenery and admired their new friend next to them.

In the peaceful morning you can barely see their outline in the mists coming over the lake. Listen carefully and you can hear their calls to one another as they gracefully glide across the water.

The penguins of the northern hemisphere! Ok, not quite but adorable nonetheless. These critters can even be found roaming through town when they are not on the hillsides.

While Hōseki paused to drink in the view, Chipilona started scrabbling in her rucksack for her portable, foldable camping chair. “What are you doing with that, Chipilona?” asked Hōseki. “We’ll need to get going in a minute or we’ll be left behind!”

You never know what you will experience on the coast. Here we have the brilliant purple and pink sunset speckled by soaring seabirds in the sky. Looks like tomorrow should be a good day.

Both lady lovely and Hōseki love the scenery at the next stop, and they both enjoy introducing themselves to their new friend, who has been waiting to meet them!

“What have you got in your tote bag, Puddle Rumchuckle?” asked Hōseki. “It looks very full!” “I’ve come prepared for anything, Hōseki,” responded Puddle Rumchuckle. “There’s deck shoes, snowshoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, flippers, walking boots, Wellington boots—you name it, I’ve got it!”

Plug your nose! Things are about to get a little smelly around here. Where there are this many penguins there is sure to be a lot of guano! But with such cuties running around it is easy to ignore.

Hōseki and Népomucène Bibliophilus had shaken paws and were now introducing themselves to the next critter who had come to meet them on this leg of the quest, who was eager to make friends and to show off a carefully tidied natural habitat!

This lil fella appears grumpy as he is often mistaken for a seal. He really would like to wear a sign saying I am not a seal but has thus far resisted. So please be kind when entering the beach here and do not upset the natives. They are quite friendly.

Hold onto your rocks! These penguins are notorious rock thieves. They sneak up on one another’s nests and steal pebbles to better their own nest. It appears these two penguins may be conspiring together. So hold onto your goods.

Hōseki and Amanda were entranced at reaching this stopping place and eagerly posed for a picture standing on either side of the attractive creature they had just met!

Hōseki and Rosie shook paws and said “How do you do?” to the next creature who had come to meet them, and posed for a souvenir photo. “Why am I always on the left?” grumbled Hōseki. “Let’s change sides.” “No,” said Rosie. “This side shows my best side.”

At the very depths of the ocean you have now reached Octopus Ridge. While it may appear a little scary at first we promise you will find things to be quite welcoming here. You never know what you will discover at great ocean depths.

It is ok. You can breathe. We just recommend staying in the middle of our shark cage here while we are at depth. Going close to the edge near the bars may be a little risky and ill advised. But isn’t that shark ever so graceful swimming around and stalking us?

Swimming and lazing around in the tropical waters one may be lucky to catch sight of these beauties floating by. Amidst the corals their colours almost glow as if illuminated by black light. Certainly a rare treat for anyone to see.

Snap on your scuba gear and go for a swim among these gentle giants. They are more likely that other whales to breech so do take care when in the water. If you aren’t so brave perhaps a Zodiac tour is more your speed.

“I’ve written a postcard to my aunty to tell her about our amazing safari!” said Hōseki. “She’ll wish she was here! Where’s the nearest postbox?” Fala shielded her eyes and rotated 360°, elaborately scanning the horizon. “I don’t think they’ve thought to provide a postbox here, Hōseki. How remiss of them!” Seeing Hōseki’s ears beginning to droop, Fala added, “Don’t worry, you can post your card after this leg of the safari.”

Stuck on coral with the changing tides one may find starfish of all sorts of colours here. If you are lucky you may even get to witness one going for a walk.

No this is not the tang you may have drank as a child. We mean this fish variety. The sort that swim you know? Granted the drink does swim in your stomach. Although we do think the fish are prettier and more interesting to observe and we hope you agree.

Hōseki has had a wonderful day, and has met lots of animals for the very first time, but now it is time for Hōseki to go back to your page and relax.

Your pet will need to wrap up warmly and perhaps don snowshoes for this part of the quest! The journey starts in beautiful snowy scenes where some quite rare animals and birds are waiting to welcome your pet to their wintry world. The quest continues to cliffs, then rocky and sandy seashores and culminates in your pet sailing on the sea to view the watery world and its inhabitants! The octopus has promised to put in an appearance, and the shark has been practising his fiercest, most glary expression, but that’s to conceal his heart of gold and cuddly disposition! Bon voyage!
