Rowland is questing! Episode 1/25

Hi, my name is Jolly McJingles and I'm here to welcome Rowland to the most wonderful winter wonderland village ever, the town called Christmas Joy. We named it that because the joy of Christmas lives in all the residents' hearts every day, not just in December. Please come to my gingerbread cottage and help me decorate the tree and I'll tell you about my four favorite ornaments.

I'm just getting started on my decorating and it's much more fun when I have help! Thank you for joining me, Rowland. The tree is my favorite thing about Christmas because of the uniqueness of the decorations we all have! What about you? What's your favorite thing to do?

Rowland is questing! Episode 3/25

Before we get started I would like to go outside and take a selfie of us to capture the moments of spending time together as that is one of the ways we keep the joy of Christmas in our hearts all year. I love to make memories and post photos on Petbook so it may inspire pets from the neighboring penguin village of Sparkling Icicle. And why stop there? Let’s spread the joys of Christmas everywhere!

Tradition is very important to all gnomes here in Christmas Joy and my favorite tradition is to ask a different pet to help me decorate the tree every year. And, of course, there's a story about each ornament, and lucky you will hear me tell you about them. The first one is the snowman ornament and this is how the McJingles family came to own it.

Jolly's great-grandfather, Happy McJingles, had one of the coolest jobs in the village. He made snowman yard ornaments and delivered them all around PnF Land. The snowmen all had little mini twinkle lights installed inside of them so you could see them at night and the lights were either white or multi-colored. What color is your favorite?

Grandpa Happy McJingles became well-known for spreading joy and bringing light into the darkness during the long, dark months of winter which helped lift many pets' moods. As a token of appreciation, he received a beautifully crafted one-of-a-kind snowman ornament to hang on his Christmas tree.

Jolly had a great idea since he was getting a little thirsty and felt like having a snack. He rummaged through the pantry and found some delightful little sugar cookies and a fancy cake. He also put a pot of water on to boil… ah, there’s the kettle whistle now! Would you like a little snack and a cup of hot cocoa, Rowland?

Rowland was wondering what other ornaments Jolly was going to put on the tree besides his four special ones, so Jolly brought out this box of yummy-looking candy canes and gingerbread ornaments. Good thing we already had a snack, or I'd be tempted to eat some of them!

Rowland is questing! Episode 9/25

After adding some sparkly garland and white twinkle lights to the tree, Jolly happily exclaimed, "Now that the tree is all decorated, I'd like to tell you about this special troll ornament." Rowland smiled, waiting for the tale to begin.

As well as making snowmen, Great Grandpa McJingle was also an expert in mining gems. He and his buddies knew which gems they could find in which cave. They were able to earn quite a bit of golden moles for their labor when they sold them in the market. Hi-Ho-Hi-Ho, it’s off to work they go, or something like that, they sang on the way to work one day. That day was no ordinary day, though, as they all were about to get a big surprise.

On that day they encountered what appeared to be a frozen waterfall and began chipping through it with their pickaxes. They were surprised to see what looked like some creature frozen in the ice.

They carefully chipped away more ice, treating the discovery as if it were an archaeological find. Whatever it was, they wanted to make sure they got it out without damaging it. “Oh my, it’s a frozen troll! I wonder how long it’s been there,” exclaimed Happy.

Rowland is questing! Episode 13/25

Since Christmas Joy’s annual ice sculpture show was going to be in a few days, they decided to bring the troll to the exhibits. When the press interviewed the mayor and learned about the unusual addition to the ice show, they made sure to mention it in the evening paper. On the day of the ice show, a record number of pets came out for the event, earning enough golden moles to fund the entire season of helping the needy. In appreciation for bringing the troll to the exhibit, the mayor presented all the gnomes with a special troll ornament.

“What a nice story, Mr. McJingles. You sure have a really special great-grandpa. I can’t wait to hear about the other two ornaments,” Rowland exclaimed.

Rowland is questing! Episode 15/25

“I sure do have a special great-grandpa! Let’s go sit by the fire and relax. There’s a blanket over there to cover you if you are a little chilly and a cup of hot cocoa,” Jolly replied. “The tale of his mammoth ornament is the next one I’d like to tell you about.”

Great-Grandpa McJingles was always fascinated while watching the lobster fishermen come and go and wondered what a job like that was like. One day he got the courage to ask one of them if he needed any help. He was thrilled when the fisherman named Barney said yes. Happy jumped onboard and away they went.

Rowland is questing! Episode 17/25

Happy learned that lobster fishing trips usually lasted a few days while the fisherman kept hoping he’d find that perfect spot to catch a large supply of lobster. He explained that on occasion a snowstorm would hit, and they would be stranded on a nearby island. What are the odds that on Happy’s first sea voyage that very thing would happen!

It was definitely Happy’s lucky day as they were about to make a startling discovery… again! It was blowing quite the hoolie in the snowstorm last night and those howling winds revealed something that had been covered by previous snowstorms. The snow had been swept away from a frozen block of ice… and… gasp… there was something in it!!

Barney and Grandpa Happy got out of the boat to get a closer look and discovered a mammoth frozen in a block of ice. It was perfectly preserved! What a find! The fisherman knew just what to do.

Rowland is questing! Episode 20/25

The curator of the local ice museum was thrilled to receive such a perfectly preserved mammoth. He proudly placed the mammoth on display and thanked Barney and Happy for such a wonderful discovery and for donating it to the museum where it will be well cared for. He presented them both with a commemorative mammoth ornament.

“Wow, your great-grandpa sure got lucky to discover not one, but two creatures frozen in ice! I wonder what amazing tale surrounds your next ornament, the penguin ornament,” Rowland excitedly pondered.

I hope you won’t be disappointed to learn that this ornament doesn’t come with a grand tale. Come outside and I will tell you the rather ordinary tale. My penguin friends from Sparkling Icicle have come to visit.

Rowland is questing! Episode 23/25

The gnomes and penguins have been friends for generations. They have weathered many storms as neighbors and have never faltered in their loyalty to each other. The leaders of the penguin village crafted a special ornament to commemorate the bond they have forged over the years and gave it to Grandpa. This ornament is a simple reminder to me that true friendship stands the test of time and that I must endeavor to preserve it.
