@ Scarlet Pathway
Snitch and Mischief are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!
Scarlet Pathway
As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
Snitch tumbled out of the Autumn Experience tourist bus, almost flattening Hubert in the process, then it wondered where the muffled groans were coming from!

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Snitch was very happy to meet Grace here! They both swapped tales of their experiences of their travels so far!

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
Daphne nearly stumbled over Snitch, who was lying full length on the grass. “I was wishing I’d brought my watercolours,” said Snitch. “This just cries out to be painted!”

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
Snitch gazed at the scene around them in awe, while Cherry grumbled a little about Snitch's so-called shortcut, if her blisters were anything to go by!

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Snitch.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Pearl.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
Loke and Snitch shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Snitch to Kit Kat.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Snitch.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Brigit.

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

"This is a glorious specimen, Screech", observed Snitch. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Snitch?" said Screech. "Buy a garden gnome!"

Zoot bent down to sniff the flower in front of her but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Zoot?” asked Snitch.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Zoot.

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Snitch," said Beatrice, "for this experience alone?" Snitch, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

@ Sunset Field
“I could stay here forever, Snitch,” said Frisky. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Frisky. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Snitch.

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Snitch. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
Aki sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

"Bess, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Snitch.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Snitch.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Bess.

Snitch and xiaolu were so rapt gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to shake paws before moving on to the next stage!

As daylight fades into darkness the earth is bathed in soft pink and purple diffused hues. An old white picket fence stands guard as it has for years.

“What’s this flower called?” Snitch said to Cherish Scrappy Demure. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Cherish Scrappy Demure and hastily changed the subject.

LILJE was glad to relax and enjoy the food Snitch shared with her.

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Icy.
"Well," said Snitch, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."
Pink Poinsettia Flowers
Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

@ Feathery Plumes in Pink
Cheeky was hailed by Snitch, who had also just arrived on the scene. “What a great view, Cheeky!” said Snitch. “I could stay here for hours!”

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Snitch is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Loke comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Loke. Snitch looks down and sees something valuable. Loke generously lets Snitch keep it!
