Alice HopHop and Coffee now know where to find Fantastic Buildings, as they have been given a free map! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Idyll
The pets will gather on the picnic benches outside the community centre before commencing their country ramble. Let's hope those lunch bags remain intact for a few more hours! The tour encompasses country buildings from watermills and windmills to barns, some unusual stone buildings, including a lovely hobbit-type dwelling, and there are some scenes of chocolate-box prettiness. Those pets who have the energy left might like to swim out to the island in the centre of the lake or climb up to a fun tree-house! Others may prefer to explore a formal house and gardens or just relax by the beach!

Attention all pets! Will each group of travelers please gather together at the picnic tables? The horse-drawn carriages will be arriving soon to take you on your tour of Idyll.

@ Quiet Country Road
Sweetums studied the route map. “We've got a very varied route here, haven't we, Alice HopHop?” she said.
“We certainly do, Sweetums! Stand by with the gloves and scarves, and perhaps the wellington boots and a waterproof hat for the other side!"

Sheep have just been let out to graze near this quiet country road. The morning fog should begin to lift soon, but there is still plenty of great scenery to behold. I hope you brought your camera!

@ Idyll Creek Mill
“Shall we stop and have our lunch here, Alice HopHop?” asked Lily Kittentoes .
“Yes, it seems a good spot, Lily Kittentoes! Let's perch on those treestumps there!"

Abandoned but not forgotten, this mill was once a very busy place. The creek is all but a trickle now and the milling is now done in a nearby factory. Oh to have seen the mill in its heyday.

Latte skipped forward a little way. “I'll tell you what, Alice HopHop, let's take a small detour and cross to halfway over that bridge there!"

The presence of the nearby fort ensures the safety of any horse that shelters in this stable for the night. The horses pulling all our carriages know this place well and give it 5-star rating.

Heleena skipped forward a little way. “I'll tell you what, Alice HopHop, let's take a small detour and cross to halfway over that bridge there!"

Crafted the old-fashioned way, each log in this old log cabin was harvested from the forest, peeled by hand, and painstakingly stacked to make one of the most durable little homes in the valley.

A gentle creak and a soft ‘whoosh’ as the sails zip past is all you hear when standing close to a windmill. These days, it’s easy to forget that a century or so ago these iconic Dutch windmills were quite common and very versatile.

Alice HopHop is enjoying Fantastic Buildings when Lami comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Lami. Alice HopHop looks down and sees something valuable. Lami generously lets Alice HopHop keep it!

One of the joys of a summer drive in the country is seeing the beauty of the verdant grasses in the meadows and fields where little pets frolic and play.
Weathered Farmhouse
Wish we could stop and sit for a spell and listen to the farmer who lives here tell us about "The Good Ole Days." I can picture sitting around the fireplace, hearing the sounds of a crackling fire as he tells us story after story when this farm was a bustling place.

“Let's just drink in this scene, shall we, Alice HopHop?” suggested Ucil, sinking down on a convenient tree stump.
Alice HopHop agreed it was well worth spending some time there!

Alice HopHop opened her rucksack to change her hat. Noctema could see Alice HopHop had a large, floppy sunhat, a balaclava, a rain hat, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a swimming cap! “Did you bring a fez too?” Noctema asked Alice HopHop.

This quaint little home with a sod roof sits atop a bluff with a gorgeous view no matter where you stand on the property. With mountains and valleys, the location is a picture of life.

“Let’s pose with one of us each side of this attraction and I’ll set the self-timer to take a shot,” said Alice HopHop to Buzzz. “It’ll be a fab souvenir of our time here!”

“A picture of this would look lovely printed on Christmas cards, wouldn't it, Alice HopHop?” Cheeky said.

“If there's time at the end when we get back to the community centre, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," BIBI said, offering Alice HopHop a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for herself.
“That sounds like a good plan, BIBI!" said Alice HopHop.

While Alice HopHop paused to drink in the view, Garnet started scrabbling in his rucksack for his portable, foldable camping chair. “What are you doing with that, Garnet?” asked Alice HopHop. “We’ll need to get going in a minute or we’ll be left behind!”

Leaving the snowy mountains behind us we encounter these charming thatch-roof homes tucked near the base of a steep hillside shrouded in fog. Seems like it would be an idyllic place to see sheep grazing behind the homes.

Alice HopHop is admiring some Fantastic Buildings when Coco comes along. "Look! Another special prize!" says Coco. Alice HopHop looks down and sees it. Coco generously lets Alice HopHop keep it!

One of the joys of a summer drive in the country is seeing the pastoral beauty of the rows of verdant roadside trees as they form a canopy over you, shading you from the rays of the hot summer sun and refreshing your soul.
Lonesome Pine Ridge
Reminiscent of the Appalachian Mountains the pets that live in this misty plot of land are still carving out an existence farming the land with rudimentary farming tools. These simple folk prefer it that way and are unfussed with modern 'contraptions,' as they call them.

Heidi was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Alice HopHop unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Heidi’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” snapped Heidi. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”

This little fairy house is a sign that there are some magical places ahead. Ooh, I wonder what they might be!

@ Dwarf Cottage
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Alice HopHop," said Winter, "for this experience alone?" Alice HopHop, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

The cottage of the six dwarves that you have never heard of; Jumpy, Zippy, Floppy, Cranky, Fuzzy, and Bert. One day on their way home from work, they bought some beans from a kid named Jack. They planted them in the yard and the stalk grew into a gigantic tree, engulfing their cottage. At first, they wondered how to get rid of it but now it's "grown on them" because they are making lots of money from tourists wanting to climb it.

Alice HopHop was excited to meet up again with Zazzy. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

No longer in use, this old grist mill is one of many that can be found along the rivers that flow throughout Idyll. It stands as a memorial to a bygone era.

@ The Shire
“We get to the sea at the end, Alice HopHop,” said Buster Mc Blusterer said. “My neighbour goes wild swimming, you know. That means going for a dip in the sea in the early morning when the water's very cold. Apparently it's very invigorating."
"Well, you won't catch me doing that, Buster Mc Blusterer!" said Alice HopHop.
The Shire
Our horse and carriage feels right at home as we rumble past the little home where we expect little hobbit-like creatures to be puttering about in the garden and talking of grand adventures. I wonder if an old wizard can be found nearby setting off fireworks.

Churches such as this one are commonly used for a variety of social events in addition to the weekly worship time. Nearby residents gather for community meals and other family-oriented events.

Alice HopHop is considering the merits of another Fantastic Building when Midnight Bleu comes along. "Wow! That completes the set!" says Midnight Bleu. Alice HopHop is amazed to have collected all three items!
