@ Sled Dog in Training
Chuck and Lady Aelfgifu have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
“Hey, have you seen what the next stop is, Chuck?” said moo moo. "It looks fantastic!"
"I'll get my camera ready," said Chuck.
Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
"How many needles grow on a pine tree, Sophia?" said Chuck.
"Goodness, I don't know, Chuck. How many?"
"All of them!"

Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

@ Fox on the Prowl
Specks and Chuck were musing on the concept of hygge.
“Is the reason there's no word for this in English because England is a cold, damp little island with an awful train service?"
Chuck considered this. "Well, they could still go indoors out of the rain and curl up in an armchair with a good book and stuff."

Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
“I'm already looking forward to tonight's hot drink by the fire, Chuck,” said Delilah.
"Hey, a snowshoe expedition will warm you up!" replied Chuck.

Through the Frozen Wetlands
The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

@ Squirrel in the Snow
Daisy was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Chuck unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which he succeeded in knocking Daisy’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Daisy. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”
Squirrel in the Snow
I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

@ Snowy Cabin in the Forest
"Do you think we'll see penguins like we did on Snow Beach that time, Penelope?" asked Chuck.
"Oh gosh, Chuck, do you remember those sharks, and the octopus as well? Poor Fresco took one look and hid in the bottom of the boat!" responded Penelope.

The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

“Would you like to learn a useful spelling rule, Sebastian?” asked Chuck.
"Go on?" said Sebastian.
"I goes before E—except when your foreign neighbour Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters!" declared Chuck.

"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Chuck," said Puff, "for this experience alone?"

The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

@ European Crested Tit
Chuck and midnught shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

@ Misty Evergreen Forest
Chuck and Lucky shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

@ Snowy Owl Solo
“I could stay here forever, Chuck,” said Oksana. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Oksana. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Chuck.

A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

“Last night's accommodation was amazing, Chuck,” said Kalila. "Those sofas! I'm looking forward to seeing where we'll stay tonight!"
"Me too!" replied Chuck. "I'm certainly ready for a nice hot drink."

@ Snowy Owl Duet
“Pass me the binoculars, Chuck!” said Siofra. "I think that's a Canada goose just taking off over there!"

Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

Chuck opened his rucksack to find his hat. Bailey Bunny could see Chuck had a beret, a balaclava, a cricket cap, a Tam o' Shanter, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a Peruvian chullo!
“Did you bring a Stetson too?” Bailey Bunny asked Chuck.

Chuck opened his rucksack to find his hat. fiffy could see Chuck had a beret, a balaclava, a cricket cap, a Tam o' Shanter, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a Peruvian chullo!
“Did you bring a Stetson too?” fiffy asked Chuck.

They say when you cut wood that it warms you twice. Some pet has already experienced the first warmth. Now the wood is stacked and ready to be used to warm a second time.

“Ooh, it's just starting to get a bit cold, Chuck!” said Bella. “Can you hold my gloves and map while I dig out my scarf?"
Chuck good-naturedly took charge of Bella's possessions while she emptied her rucksack of a pack of sandwiches, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of toffees, a paperback novel, a bottle of mineral water, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old train tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some shopping receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and tomato ketchup before locating the scarf right at the bottom. This she donned and then Chuck helped her put everything back in her rucksack.

Stuffed Concierge
Welcome to your lodging for the night. Sitting on the steps is the stuffed concierge....AKA Mr. Ted E. Bear. The note tucked under his bum gives you all the information you will need to make your night's stay comfortable, such as where the extra blankets are stored and what the wifi password is.

“It would be great fun to camp in the snow overnight, wouldn't it, Baby?” said Chuck."In the morning you'd fill your kettle with snow and boil it suspended from a tripod of sticks, like they do in books."
Baby shivered. “You must be fond of adventure books, Chuck! I'd rather have four solid walls round me at night, actually!"

Roaring fire going. Quiet stillness outside. Hot cocoa ready. Good book in hand. Snuggled up in a quilt. It doesn't get any better than this!

Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.

Anything you could possibly want for your hot cocoa is in this handy tray. I'm just going to pile mine high with marshmallows and a piece of dark chocolate candy.
