@ PnF Meeting House
Tranquility and Moriarty are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Red
Fall foliage in striking hues of red and orange will be seen all around on this tour along the riverbank. Your pet can collect pine cones, sample wild berries and currants, view beautiful plants in purple and red, and perhaps spot some exotic birdlife! Everypet will enjoy lingering on the bridge to view the peaceful scene as the sun goes down turning the river pink as it does so ...
PnF Meeting House
Before we begin the journey we need to check-in here to pick up a trail map and some travel snacks. Be sure to sign the register with how many are in your travel party and how long you plan to be on the trail. Don't forget to take a potty break before you head out!

Episode 2/25

@ Sleepy River Sunrise
“What an amazing view!” exclaimed Tranquility after shaking paws with HappyCheerling, who agreed with her. Tranquility was excited to meet up again with HappyCheerling. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

The sun is just beginning to illuminate the sky, casting a warm glow on the sleepy river and the sleepy pets in the village. We begin our journey early in the cool of the day as the PnF weatherpet has predicted an unusually warm autumn day ahead.

@ Sunrise Silhouette
On her way round The Autumn Experience, Tressla bumped into Tranquility. They both paused to drink in the beautiful scene before them before going on to the next location.

As the sun continues to rise and the chill of the morning gives way, some of the hikers begin to shed their warm jackets and stuff them in their packs. A lone plant is dramatically silhouetted in the sun's golden light.

@ Autumn Stillness
“Time to move on and shake the next paw!” observed Tranquility. princess ♥ sparkles agreed, but said she was going to stay here awhile and collect pine cones.

As we behold the beauty of the golden leaves in the nearby trees, some clouds have rolled in, obscuring the sun for a bit. Some small fish in the river below are dining on insects that skim along the surface, creating little ripples on the calm water.

@ Orange Splendor
Zen shook paws with Tranquility and was just enjoying the view when he was distracted by loud rustling as Tranquility unfolded a very lengthy Autumn Experience itinerary, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Zen’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” snapped Zen. “I’m about to take a photo of this amazing scene—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”
Orange Splendor
The glorious colors of autumn overflow in profusion along the trail prompting a chorus of 'oohs' and 'ahs' among the travelers. We pause and stare in rapturous awe for a moment before proceeding.

@ Ginger Root
Archie and Tranquility, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Tranquility. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”
Ginger Root
Ginger root is a well-known natural remedy for some common ailments. If you are prone to stomach upset and indigestion, nibbling on a small piece of raw ginger or drinking ginger tea can help alleviate your symptoms. But it is most useful on the journey as it helps your body to recover from muscle soreness after over-exertion. It will definitely come in handy today!

@ Japanese Maple in Orange
Abel nearly stumbled over Tranquility, who was lying full length on the grass. “I was wishing I’d brought my watercolours,” said Tranquility. “This just cries out to be painted!”

An important reminder when one is out on an adventure: remember to look up! There is so much beauty around us, we don't want to miss any of it, especially when it is something as wonderful as the sun's rays filtering through the orange leaves of this Japanese Maple tree.

Lady Aelfgifu was hailed by Tranquility, who had also just arrived on the scene. “What a great view, Lady Aelfgifu!” said Tranquility. “I could stay here for hours!”

See, glancing upward occasionally does have its benefits! As we continue along the trail we see a different variety of Japanese Maple, no less beautiful than the orange one. A treat to our eyes, this one is adorned in a fabulous crimson red.

@ Delightful Dahlia
“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Rianna.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Tranquility. "Is he on this tour?"

The PnF gardener has done a fabulous job landscaping along the trail. Pots of flowers have been placed throughout to display an array of vivid autumn colors. This deep pink hued dahlia is delightful!

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused lady ciganko.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Tranquility. "Is he on this tour?"

@ Nectar Delight
“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Tranquility to Jasper.

Be still and maybe it won't see you. Look over there on that red flower. It's a Micronesian Myzomela, and I almost didn't see it as it is somewhat camouflaged by the wispy red flowers it is sipping nectar from.

@ Red Berries
BERT bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, BERT?” asked Tranquility.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said BERT.

@ Basket of Pine Cones
“I’m going to try growing these at home!” announced Tranquility, after she and matty had tucked into some yummy organic harvest food!

According to the note attached to the basket, each of us is supposed to take a pine cone and plant the seeds in the designated area ahead. A park ranger will give us instructions when we get there. A pine forest covered in fresh snowfall is one of the most beautiful sights to see in winter. I'm happy to help add to that beauty!

Tranquility and Orpheus had shaken paws and took some time to enjoy the super view in a companionable silence!

@ Autumn Rose Bouquet
"This is a glorious specimen, LoyaLloyd", observed Tranquility. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Tranquility?" said LoyaLloyd. "Buy a garden gnome!"

The quiet and serenity of the next scene made Tranquility and Balthazar feel like they were the only pets left in PnF Land ...

Cherrie and Tranquility shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Buzzz.
"Well," said Tranquility, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

@ Shiny Redcurrant Berries
Inspired by the sunny day, Reynard said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Tranquility took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Reynard hastily revised her romantic harvest vision.

Wild redcurrants can be found all over the countryside. They look temptingly sweet to eat, but these shiny red berries are usually made into redcurrant jelly because of their tartness.

“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Tranquility.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Paxton.

Growing on the side of the bridge is a mass of deep red and purple leafy vines. Deep blue berries hang in bunches just waiting to be eaten.

“What’s this flower called?” Tranquility said to dora. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said dora and hastily changed the subject.

Teasels and Carnations
Teasel weeds are a very common roadside plant. They look beautiful for being a weed, don't they? They are a favorite among crafters as they can be dried and painted any color. These lovely bi-color pink carnations pair perfectly with the purple painted teasels.

“Isn’t this amazing, Bolla?” declared Tranquility. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”
