@ Sled Dog in Training
Epi and Poppy have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

Episode 2/27

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
“Pass me the binoculars, Epi!” said Herman. "I think that's a Canada goose just taking off over there!"

Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
“Last night's accommodation was amazing, Epi,” said Snow Ball Fluff. "Those sofas! I'm looking forward to seeing where we'll stay tonight!"
"Me too!" replied Epi. "I'm certainly ready for a nice hot drink."

Snowy Bench
Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

Episode 4/27

@ Fox on the Prowl
“Ooh, it's just starting to get a bit cold, Epi!” said Archie. “Can you hold my gloves and map while I dig out my scarf?"
Epi good-naturedly took charge of Archie's possessions while he emptied his rucksack of a pack of sandwiches, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of toffees, a paperback novel, a bottle of mineral water, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old train tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some shopping receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and tomato ketchup before locating the scarf right at the bottom. This he donned and then Epi helped him put everything back in his rucksack.

Fox on the Prowl
Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
"Hey, Epi, how does a coniferous tree get ready for a date?" asked Akiren Kurumiya (Joker).
"Tell me?" said Epi.
"It spruces itself up!" chortled Akiren Kurumiya (Joker).
Through the Frozen Wetlands
The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

@ Squirrel in the Snow
"How many needles grow on a pine tree, Choose a name?" said Epi.
"Goodness, I don't know, Epi. How many?"
"All of them!"

I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

@ Snowy Cabin in the Forest
Epi and ypmblessed shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

@ Frosty-Nosed Welcome
"Do you think we'll see penguins like we did on Snow Beach that time, Midnight Bleu?" asked Epi.
"Oh gosh, Epi, do you remember those sharks, and the octopus as well? Poor Fresco took one look and hid in the bottom of the boat!" responded Midnight Bleu.

Frosty-Nosed Welcome
Welcome to my neck of the woods! I know you'll love it here as much as I do. You don't happen to have a carrot in your backpack, do you? I could use a little snack as I've been sniffing around trying to find something to munch on under the snow.

@ Snow-Covered Fence
“I was pretending to be an Arctic explorer in the husky sled on the way here, Epi,” revealed Honey.
"Is that why you kept yelling: 'Mush! Mush!' at them?" asked Epi. "Hey, what would happen if you shouted the wrong command and they suddenly did a U-turn?"
"I reckon we'd all be flung out headfirst into the nearest snowdrift," grinned Honey.

Snow-Covered Fence
The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

“What have you got in your tote bag, Flutterbye?” asked Tweety Pi. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything snowy, Tweety Pi,” responded Flutterbye. “There’s snowshoes, snow boots, Wellington boots, a pair of grippy things, ear muffs—you name it, I’ve got it!”
European Crested Tit
A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Epi," said Rainbow, "for this experience alone?"

An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

“What have you got in your tote bag, Flutterbye?” asked Tweety Pi. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything snowy, Tweety Pi,” responded Flutterbye. “There’s snowshoes, snow boots, Wellington boots, a pair of grippy things, ear muffs—you name it, I’ve got it!”
Snowy Owl Solo
A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

“Seeing these places makes me want to stay here and spend a week or two, Epi,” remarked Choose a name. "It looks so different!"
"Well, I guess that's the point of travel, isn't it?" said Epi. "To broaden your horizons and so on."

A fresh snowfall has brought a beautiful stillness over the landscape. Leafless trees now have a fresh adornment.

Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

“How do you talk to a bunch of pine trees all at once, Epi?" grinned Choose a name.
"How?" asked Epi guardedly.
"On a coniference call!"

A faithful guardian sits at the ready to protect his territory. No critter may pass into his wintry realm without first getting by his watchful eye.

@ Making Tracks
Joker shook his head from side to side. "My ears are ringing from the huskies barking!" he said.
“Yes, such an energetic, enthusiastic bunch! A fun ride, though!" replied Epi.

Making Tracks
A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

“You know, this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, Epi!” said Jake.
"It's very nice indeed—but you never know, the next leg of the tour might be even better!" said Epi.

They say when you cut wood that it warms you twice. Some pet has already experienced the first warmth. Now the wood is stacked and ready to be used to warm a second time.

“If there's time at the end when we get back to our accommodation, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," Buttercup said, offering Epi a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for herself.
“That sounds like a good plan, Buttercup!" said Epi. "And very in keeping with the hygge theme!"

Stuffed Concierge
Welcome to your lodging for the night. Sitting on the steps is the stuffed concierge....AKA Mr. Ted E. Bear. The note tucked under his bum gives you all the information you will need to make your night's stay comfortable, such as where the extra blankets are stored and what the wifi password is.

“It would be great fun to camp in the snow overnight, wouldn't it, Sweet Pea?” said Epi."In the morning you'd fill your kettle with snow and boil it suspended from a tripod of sticks, like they do in books."
Sweet Pea shivered. “You must be fond of adventure books, Epi! I'd rather have four solid walls round me at night, actually!"

Roaring fire going. Quiet stillness outside. Hot cocoa ready. Good book in hand. Snuggled up in a quilt. It doesn't get any better than this!

Epi opened his rucksack to find his hat. Toby could see Epi had a beret, a balaclava, a cricket cap, a Tam o' Shanter, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a Peruvian chullo!
“Did you bring a Stetson too?” Toby asked Epi.

Epi is tired out and ready to go home when Charbon comes along. "Wow! You find a special prize!" says Charbon. Epi turns round and found it was just behind them!
Frosty Butterflies
Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.
Cocoa Bar
Anything you could possibly want for your hot cocoa is in this handy tray. I'm just going to pile mine high with marshmallows and a piece of dark chocolate candy.
