Episode 1/27

@ Sled Dog in Training
Alice and Pu[ have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

Episode 2/27

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
“Ooh, it's just starting to get a bit cold, Alice!” said Sylvantra. “Can you hold my gloves and map while I dig out my scarf?"
Alice good-naturedly took charge of Sylvantra's possessions while she emptied her rucksack of a pack of sandwiches, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of toffees, a paperback novel, a bottle of mineral water, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old train tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some shopping receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and tomato ketchup before locating the scarf right at the bottom. This she donned and then Alice helped her put everything back in her rucksack.

Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
"This is fabulous, Hera" enthused Alice. "I'll have this photo printed and framed and display it next to my plush seal that I got in the little gift shop near Snow Beach and the model of St Basil's Cathedral from Icon!"
"You'll have a fine collection of mementos, Alice!" said Hera.

Snowy Bench
Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

@ Fox on the Prowl
“It would be great fun to camp in the snow overnight, wouldn't it, Fiddlesticks?” said Alice."In the morning you'd fill your kettle with snow and boil it suspended from a tripod of sticks, like they do in books."
Fiddlesticks shivered. “You must be fond of adventure books, Alice! I'd rather have four solid walls round me at night, actually!"
Fox on the Prowl
Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
“I could stay here forever, Alice,” said frosty. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, frosty. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Alice.
Through the Frozen Wetlands
The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

@ Squirrel in the Snow
“I'm already looking forward to tonight's hot drink by the fire, Alice,” said Lady Thea.
"Hey, a snowshoe expedition will warm you up!" replied Alice.

I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

@ Snowy Cabin in the Forest
Alice opened her rucksack to find her hat. billy could see Alice had a beret, a balaclava, a cricket cap, a Tam o' Shanter, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a Peruvian chullo!
“Did you bring a Stetson too?” billy asked Alice.
Snowy Cabin in the Forest
The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

@ Frosty-Nosed Welcome
“If there's time at the end when we get back to our accommodation, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," Fresco de la Reye said, offering Alice a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for himself.
“That sounds like a good plan, Fresco de la Reye!" said Alice. "And very in keeping with the hygge theme!"

Welcome to my neck of the woods! I know you'll love it here as much as I do. You don't happen to have a carrot in your backpack, do you? I could use a little snack as I've been sniffing around trying to find something to munch on under the snow.

@ Snow-Covered Fence
“What have you got in your tote bag, Flutterbye?” asked Tweety Pi. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything snowy, Tweety Pi,” responded Flutterbye. “There’s snowshoes, snow boots, Wellington boots, a pair of grippy things, ear muffs—you name it, I’ve got it!”
Snow-Covered Fence
The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

@ European Crested Tit
“Seeing these places makes me want to stay here and spend a week or two, Alice,” remarked Shadow. "It looks so different!"
"Well, I guess that's the point of travel, isn't it?" said Alice. "To broaden your horizons and so on."

A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

Misty Evergreen Forest
An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

@ Snowy Owl Solo

A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

“Seeing these places makes me want to stay here and spend a week or two, Alice,” remarked Ringo. "It looks so different!"

"How many needles grow on a pine tree, Bunnibuns?" said Alice.
"Goodness, I don't know, Alice. How many?"
"All of them!"

Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

lilycat shook her head from side to side. "My ears are ringing from the huskies barking!" she said.
“Yes, such an energetic, enthusiastic bunch! A fun ride, though!" replied Alice.

A faithful guardian sits at the ready to protect his territory. No critter may pass into his wintry realm without first getting by his watchful eye.

@ Making Tracks
“Would you like to learn a useful spelling rule, Snowball?” asked Alice.
"Go on?" said Snowball.
"I goes before E—except when your foreign neighbour Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters!" declared Alice.
Making Tracks
A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

@ Sunset Masterpiece
Misty shook her head from side to side. "My ears are ringing from the huskies barking!" she said.
“Yes, such an energetic, enthusiastic bunch! A fun ride, though!" replied Alice.

@ Woodpile of Warmth
Daisy and Alice were musing on the concept of hygge.
“Is the reason there's no word for this in English because England is a cold, damp little island with an awful train service?"
Alice considered this. "Well, they could still go indoors out of the rain and curl up in an armchair with a good book and stuff."

They say when you cut wood that it warms you twice. Some pet has already experienced the first warmth. Now the wood is stacked and ready to be used to warm a second time.

Alice and CatchThis18 shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

Munich was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Alice unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Munich’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Munich. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”

Alice is tired out and ready to go home when Rhapsody comes along. "Wow! You find a special prize!" says Rhapsody. Alice turns round and found it was just behind them!
Frosty Butterflies
Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.
Cocoa Bar
Anything you could possibly want for your hot cocoa is in this handy tray. I'm just going to pile mine high with marshmallows and a piece of dark chocolate candy.
