Minty gazed around in awe, while Puff mumbled and grumbled about Minty's shortcut being no shortcut at all, if the blisters on his paws were anything to go by!

Minty and Rosie pool their small change, hoping to buy some small souvenirs to remind them of this place!

It's at night when some plants and flowers give off their most intense scent, or perhaps it's also that after the air has cleared from the clamour of the day, we have more chance of detecting their perfume. Breathing deeply in a pine forest has proven benefits to the lungs!

Minty tumbled out of the tourist bus, flattening Enty in the process, then wondering where the muffled groans were coming from?

Minty was becoming increasingly irritated with the constant clicking and beeping of Koko's camera disturbing the peace and quiet, so Minty moved purposefully on without her!

Have you ever felt a sense of joy as you stand next to an awe-inspiring waterfall? It is said that waterfalls can make us happy. Even though some might dismiss this as an old pets’ tale, there does seem to be some scientific thinking behind the theory that waterfalls generate positive vibes. Waterfalls are considered to be one giant ion generator— the watery downpour gives off negative ions, which we take in as positive energy. Once the negative ions reach our bloodstream, they are said to increase our bodies’ production of serotonin, which is the chemical responsible for relieving stress and depression, and for boosting our energy and happiness. So it’s not surprising we might feel so great when we’re around waterfalls!

While Minty thinks the scenery is lovely, she wonders where Salvadore intends to set up camp?

Minty and Plum were so busy gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to finish shaking paws before changeover!

Don't you just wish you were here? A beautiful river with exciting twists and turns, pine trees varying in colour from dark green to gold, rocky outcrops and distant conifer-clad peaks conspire to make this the most delightful of spots!

Rumour has it that the lake is bottomless. Others say an underground passage links it to the nearby Galloway Falls. Perhaps a visiting pet might see an arm protruding from the lake brandishing a sword! Take care, furry or feathery ones ...

Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Minty on to keep on trekking. However mucki sat down, refusing to budge, complaining of blisters on her paws...

Minty and Buzzz were so busy gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to finish shaking paws before changeover!

A sailing boat sitting moored invitingly on this calm lake just beckons the pets to come and take a trip! But don't all get into the boat at once, and remember not to stand up when underway!

Minty moved on to shake the next paw, oblivious to the fact that she'd also shaken ****, who had wandered off to pick wildflowers along the way...

One of the benefits of being on an island is having the glorious sea all around. Whatever its changing face, according to the weather, we are reminded of its constant energy at all times as waves crash onto the shore and draw back, dragging a myriad pebbles and shells in their wake.

Minty had to travel on alone, as BoBo declared she had found her nirvana, and had no intention of moving on!

Minty was surprised to meet Petunia here! But they were both delighted to find plenty of travel tokens!

A gem of a secluded cove awaits anypet exploring this far. Shelter from the breeze is provided by the marram grass and a fun time can be had building sandcastles by the sea.

@ Island: Alcona
Minty finally makes it back to the landing stage, where Twitch is also about to embark and go home. What an adventure it has been! Minty pockets a map of Alcona as a momento. The guidebook says:

From its sandy landing cove the pets have a stimulating journey on their mystery tour round Alcona. Rivers and waterfalls, mountains and trees, there's something for everypet, including seeing a quirky hedge as they approach the stepping stones ready to board their boat again!
