BENT and Norris are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Fall Fairground North
All the fun of the fair is here to provide your pet with entertainment and thrills, from waterslide to big wheel. And has your pet a strong enough stomach for a death-defying rollercoaster ride? To help restore your pet's equilibrium after all the excitements of the fairground rides, there are stalls selling hot potato snacks, popcorn, toffee apples, candy and delicious cakes and other yummy delights made from the autumn harvest produce! We hope everypet will leave clutching at least one of the fun carnival novelties!

Blástjarna met BENT at one of the refreshment stands. Blástjarna groaned slightly and clutched her tum. “I’m going to go and sit down for a while first, BENT. I need to recover from that last ride!”

Amethyst and BENT treated themselves to a generous portion of the delicious-looking snack at the next stall to help get over quite a scary ride!

Fairings is the traditional name for edible souvenirs sold at fairs throughout England. These ginger fairings became associated with Cornish fairs and are still popular in the region.

While fiffy was trying to decide whether to go for a medium or large size, BENT came up to say hello. “I’m going to go for super-size!” said BENT.

From the queue, Cuckoo nervously eyed the fairground ride whirling beside herself and BENT. “What if the cable breaks?” she asked. “Oh, that won’t be a problem!” said BENT airily. “They can always get another one!”

Sparkles got carefully down from the ride, stumbling slightly and holding tightly onto the sides. "I say, you do look a bit green, Sparkles, old thing!" said BENT. "I'm reminded of when you got seasick on our Crocodile Creek trip!"
"I was not seasick," said Sparkles with dignity. "I had merely eaten something that disagreed with me."

Big wheel installations became an icon of World's Fairs and Exhibitions and an example at Earl's Court in London erected in 1894 expressed fine engineering combined with opulence. Meanwhile, across the Pond, George Ferris led the way in big wheel design.

Odyssey and BENT watched the antics on the waterslide as they stood in the line of pets waiting to board the next ride. "Remember when Foxy leant too far over the bridge in Meadowlands that time, and fell in the pond with a huge splash?" asked BENT. "My stomach muscles ached from laughing for days!"

The world's oldest roller coasters descended from specially constructed hills of snow in the gardens of palaces around the Russian capital, St Petersburg, in the 18th century. The slides were built to a height of between 70 ft - 80 ft (21-24 m), had a 50 degree drop. These slides became popular with the Russian upper class."Russian mountains" remains the term for roller coasters in many languages, such as Spanish (la montaña rusa), Italian (montagne russe), and French (les montagnes russes). Ironically, the Russian term for roller coaster, "amerikanskie gorki", translates literally as "American mountains."

As sunset falls, you enjoy the ever-changing view as you chug a little further upwards and then pause as each pod takes on its precious cargo of pets eager to enjoy the ride. Then when all the pods are full, the wheel starts to turn, building up speed!

BENT came up to the snackbar where the vendor was just handing over a very large portion to Freyja. "Gosh, Freyja, you're like those ravenous guinea pigs in Meadowlands! I'd never seen animals eating with such diligence before!"
