@ Sled Dog in Training
Flutterbee and Draco have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

Episode 2/27

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
"How many needles grow on a pine tree, matty?" said Flutterbee.
"Goodness, I don't know, Flutterbee. How many?"
"All of them!"

Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
“Last night's accommodation was amazing, Flutterbee,” said Angel. "Those sofas! I'm looking forward to seeing where we'll stay tonight!"
"Me too!" replied Flutterbee. "I'm certainly ready for a nice hot drink."

Snowy Bench
Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

“A picture of this would look lovely printed on Christmas cards, wouldn't it, Flutterbee?” Arthur said.
“It certainly would, Arthur!" said Flutterbee.

Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
"Hey, Flutterbee, how does a coniferous tree get ready for a date?" asked Beauty.
"Tell me?" said Flutterbee.
"It spruces itself up!" chortled Beauty.
Through the Frozen Wetlands
The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

@ Squirrel in the Snow
Sebastian and Flutterbee were musing on the concept of hygge.
“Is the reason there's no word for this in English because England is a cold, damp little island with an awful train service?"
Flutterbee considered this. "Well, they could still go indoors out of the rain and curl up in an armchair with a good book and stuff."

I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

"It's turned a bit cold, Flutterbee, I'm going to put my beanie hat on," said Phimi ツ.
"Good scheme! I'll dig my mittens out as well," said Flutterbee.

The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

@ European Crested Tit
“You know, this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, Flutterbee!” said lily.
"It's very nice indeed—but you never know, the next leg of the tour might be even better!" said Flutterbee.

A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

@ Misty Evergreen Forest
“If there's time at the end when we get back to our accommodation, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," Sunshine said, offering Flutterbee a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for herself.
“That sounds like a good plan, Sunshine!" said Flutterbee. "And very in keeping with the hygge theme!"

Misty Evergreen Forest
An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

@ Snowy Owl Solo
“It would be great fun to camp in the snow overnight, wouldn't it, Shelsea?” said Flutterbee."In the morning you'd fill your kettle with snow and boil it suspended from a tripod of sticks, like they do in books."
Shelsea shivered. “You must be fond of adventure books, Flutterbee! I'd rather have four solid walls round me at night, actually!"
Snowy Owl Solo
A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

"This is fabulous, Felix" enthused Flutterbee. "I'll have this photo printed and framed and display it next to my plush seal that I got in the little gift shop near Snow Beach and the model of St Basil's Cathedral from Icon!"
"You'll have a fine collection of mementos, Flutterbee!" said Felix.

A fresh snowfall has brought a beautiful stillness over the landscape. Leafless trees now have a fresh adornment.

Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

“Seeing these places makes me want to stay here and spend a week or two, Flutterbee,” remarked fancy. "It looks so different!"
"Well, I guess that's the point of travel, isn't it?" said Flutterbee. "To broaden your horizons and so on."

@ Making Tracks
“Would you like to learn a useful spelling rule, Cherrie?” asked Flutterbee.
"Go on?" said Cherrie.
"I goes before E—except when your foreign neighbour Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters!" declared Flutterbee.
Making Tracks
A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

“What have you got in your tote bag, Flutterbye?” asked Tweety Pi. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything snowy, Tweety Pi,” responded Flutterbye. “There’s snowshoes, snow boots, Wellington boots, a pair of grippy things, ear muffs—you name it, I’ve got it!”

Icy was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Flutterbee unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Icy’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Icy. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”
Woodpile of Warmth
They say when you cut wood that it warms you twice. Some pet has already experienced the first warmth. Now the wood is stacked and ready to be used to warm a second time.

Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.

Anything you could possibly want for your hot cocoa is in this handy tray. I'm just going to pile mine high with marshmallows and a piece of dark chocolate candy.
