Basil Brianberry and Waylon are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Fall Fairground North
All the fun of the fair is here to provide your pet with entertainment and thrills, from waterslide to big wheel. And has your pet a strong enough stomach for a death-defying rollercoaster ride? To help restore your pet's equilibrium after all the excitements of the fairground rides, there are stalls selling hot potato snacks, popcorn, toffee apples, candy and delicious cakes and other yummy delights made from the autumn harvest produce! We hope everypet will leave clutching at least one of the fun carnival novelties!

@ Gingerbread Fairings
Flatts and Basil Brianberry were choosing a drink to go with their food when there was suddenly an almighty SPLASH! from the waterslide and they were hit by flying droplets from the pool!

Fairings is the traditional name for edible souvenirs sold at fairs throughout England. These ginger fairings became associated with Cornish fairs and are still popular in the region.

From the queue, Rascal nervously eyed the fairground ride whirling beside herself and Basil Brianberry. “What if the cable breaks?” she asked. “Oh, that won’t be a problem!” said Basil Brianberry airily. “They can always get another one!”

@ Pommes Frites Treat
“The trouble with eating this, Punky,” observed Basil Brianberry, “is that it’s very moreish. You really don’t want to stop at one portion!”
”Another go on that roller coaster will put a crimp on your appetite quite nicely, I’ve found!” said Punky.

Choose a name got carefully down from the ride, stumbling slightly and holding tightly onto the sides. "I say, you do look a bit green, Choose a name, old thing!" said Basil Brianberry. "I'm reminded of when you got seasick on our Crocodile Creek trip!"
"I was not seasick," said Choose a name with dignity. "I had merely eaten something that disagreed with me."

“C’mon, Sweety, let’s check out this ride!" chirped Basil Brianberry happily. “I can’t wait to get me some g-force!” Sweety trotted—not quite so enthusiastically—in Basil Brianberry’s wake.

Big wheel installations became an icon of World's Fairs and Exhibitions and an example at Earl's Court in London erected in 1894 expressed fine engineering combined with opulence. Meanwhile, across the Pond, George Ferris led the way in big wheel design.

"Just listen to that old fairground pipe organ, glowy!" said Basil Brianberry. "I love the painted figures, especially the conductor keeping time at the front. You can hear the music all over the fairground!"
"It certainly adds to the atmosphere," said glowy. "Hey, the ride's about to start! Let's see if we can hear the music from the top!"

The world's oldest roller coasters descended from specially constructed hills of snow in the gardens of palaces around the Russian capital, St Petersburg, in the 18th century. The slides were built to a height of between 70 ft - 80 ft (21-24 m), had a 50 degree drop. These slides became popular with the Russian upper class."Russian mountains" remains the term for roller coasters in many languages, such as Spanish (la montaña rusa), Italian (montagne russe), and French (les montagnes russes). Ironically, the Russian term for roller coaster, "amerikanskie gorki", translates literally as "American mountains."

“You bet—let me just finish my ice cream!” Hyacinthie waited while Basil Brianberry had the last lick of ice cream and munched the last inch of cornet, then they excitedly queued up for the ride!

As sunset falls, you enjoy the ever-changing view as you chug a little further upwards and then pause as each pod takes on its precious cargo of pets eager to enjoy the ride. Then when all the pods are full, the wheel starts to turn, building up speed!

“Hey, Paws!” called out Basil Brianberry, as they shook paws. “This is quite a change from Snow Beach, isn’t it? I thought I’d got frostbite there! Here, have some of this yummy snack.”
