Poppy and Choose a name Thisisme are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Fall Fairground North
All the fun of the fair is here to provide your pet with entertainment and thrills, from waterslide to big wheel. And has your pet a strong enough stomach for a death-defying rollercoaster ride? To help restore your pet's equilibrium after all the excitements of the fairground rides, there are stalls selling hot potato snacks, popcorn, toffee apples, candy and delicious cakes and other yummy delights made from the autumn harvest produce! We hope everypet will leave clutching at least one of the fun carnival novelties!

Dai met Poppy at one of the refreshment stands. Dai groaned slightly and clutched his tum. “I’m going to go and sit down for a while first, Poppy. I need to recover from that last ride!”

Fairings is the traditional name for edible souvenirs sold at fairs throughout England. These ginger fairings became associated with Cornish fairs and are still popular in the region.

“The trouble with eating this, Jasper,” observed Poppy, “is that it’s very moreish. You really don’t want to stop at one portion!”
”Another go on that roller coaster will put a crimp on your appetite quite nicely, I’ve found!” said Jasper.

Mr Virus and Poppy watched the antics on the waterslide as they stood in the line of pets waiting to board the next ride. "Remember when Foxy leant too far over the bridge in Meadowlands that time, and fell in the pond with a huge splash?" asked Poppy. "My stomach muscles ached from laughing for days!"

"Mmmm—I probably shouldn't feel this way, but it's lovely to sit here scarfing French fries, doughnuts, candy floss and then a helping of this!" said Navi.

@ Pommes Frites Treat
Poppy came up to the snackbar where the vendor was just handing over a very large portion to Priya. "Gosh, Priya, you're like those ravenous guinea pigs in Meadowlands! I'd never seen animals eating with such diligence before!"

“Wheeeee-eeeee-eeeee!” screamed Autumn Jay and Poppy in unison as they descended, very rapidly indeed, from the highest point of the ride!

Poppy encountered Choose a name at the fairground. “Have you been on this ride yet, Choose a name?” asked Poppy. “It’s quite an experience!”

The slides were built to a height of between 70 ft - 80 ft (21-24 m), had a 50 degree drop. These slides became popular with the Russian upper class."Russian mountains" remains the term for roller coasters in many languages, such as Spanish (la montaña rusa), Italian (montagne russe), and French (les montagnes russes). Ironically, the Russian term for roller coaster, "amerikanskie gorki", translates literally as "American mountains."

Poppy was listening enraptured to the music emerging from the nearby carousel. “My Mum used to sing this, Sikandar!” he exclaimed excitedly. "Music allures, graceful and sweet, bidding us dance, airy and fleet—” he waltzed in a ragged circle and accidentally bumped into the carnival novelties stand. “Ooh! I’ll buy one of those while I'm here, Sikandar!” he said.

"I'm just checking to see if I've got enough, Henry. I spent more than I thought on those cakes and things."
