@ Scarlet Pathway
Owlette and green goddess are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!

As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
“I could stay here forever, Owlette,” said Chusi. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Chusi. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Owlette.

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
“Time to move on and shake the next paw!” observed Owlette. CUPID agreed, but said he was going to stay here awhile and collect pine cones.

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Owlette," said Kia, "for this experience alone?" Owlette, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
Owlette opened her rucksack to change her hat. Jewel could see Owlette had a baseball cap, a sombrero, a beret, a straw boater, a cricket cap, a sou'wester, a large, floppy sunhat and a pith helmet!
“Did you bring a mortarboard too?” Jewel asked Owlette.

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
Inspired by the sunny day, Julius said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Owlette took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Julius hastily revised his romantic harvest vision.
Wild Blueberries
Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
Dave and Owlette shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“These make a fine display, don’t they, Owlette?” said ****, when he and Owlette had shaken paws.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
“Great to meet you again, Fancy Face !” said Owlette. “Come and have some of this farm-grown organic food—it’s absolutely yummy!”

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Shadow.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Owlette. "Is he on this tour?"

@ Chili Peppers in Basket
Owlette was excited by seeing all the different harvest produce. “I’m going to apply for an allotment and start growing my own food!” he announced to Morpheus, when they met and shook paws.

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Owlette. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
DanTDM sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
Owlette was in a hurry to move along and shake some more paws, but Lucifer decided to stay where he was for a while, and sketch the scenery for this week's Art Challenge!

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

CatchThis18 and Owlette shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

Owlette and PHOENIX shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place for a picnic!

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Derry" said Owlette. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Owlette! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked NightGhost.
"Well," said Owlette, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

“Isn’t this amazing, nellie?” declared Owlette. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

“Let’s pose with one of us at each side and I’ll set the self-timer to take a shot,” said Owlette to Rufus. “It’ll be a wonderful souvenir of our time here!”

Owlette is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Mickle comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Mickle. Owlette looks down and sees something valuable. Mickle generously lets Owlette keep it!
