Kathleen and Sunshine are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Fall Fairground South
Roll up! Roll up! After sunset the fairground is transformed into a glittering arena of swirling lights, with a backdrop of squawks, yelps and howls from pets clinging on for dear life to the scary rollercoaster and whirling round on the fluorescently lit big wheel! The best view is of course from the top, so c'mon, everypet, and have the experience of your life! For pets preferring a gentler ride, hold on tightly to the reins while our carousel horses look after you on a circular journey under a blue starry canopy. Then it's time to indulge in candy, popcorn, gingerbread and pumpkin pie made from the fall harvest! Hopefully everypet will have enough silver moles left to buy a magnificent helium balloon to take home ...

Auntie Mame and Kathleen watched the antics on the waterslide as they stood in the line of pets waiting to board the next ride. "Remember when Foxy leant too far over the bridge in Meadowlands that time, and fell in the pond with a huge splash?" asked Kathleen. "My stomach muscles ached from laughing for days!"

"What's the fastest ride here, Kathleen?" asked Sir John Dee. "Is it this roller coaster?"
"No, the merry-go-round has more horse power!" said Kathleen.

"Would you like a fork with that, Kathleen?" asked Aki, as their respective servings of food were placed on the counter in front of them.
"No, that's fine, thank you, Aki! I'm just going to dive in!" (which, in a manner of speaking, she then did).

Cuckoo got carefully down from the ride, stumbling slightly and holding tightly onto the sides. "I say, you do look a bit green, Cuckoo, old thing!" said Kathleen. "I'm reminded of when you got seasick on our Crocodile Creek trip!"
"I was not seasick," said Cuckoo with dignity. "I had merely eaten something that disagreed with me."

Kathleen came up to the snackbar where the vendor was just handing over a very large portion to Bluey~*. "Gosh, Bluey~*, you're like those ravenous guinea pigs in Meadowlands! I'd never seen animals eating with such diligence before!"

“That should keep me going till I get home tonight,” said Waddles to Kathleen, while crumpling her used food container and placing it carefully in a litter bin.
“Or at least until the next food stall!” observed Kathleen.

SPARKLES, just about to board the next ride, paused and looked around the fairground. "I was just wondering if they had one of those nice, gentle rides where you sit in, you know, giant teacups," she said wistfully. Kathleen grinned. "C'mon, SPARKLES, this ride should be on your bucket list! Not that you're going to kick the bucket for many years yet!"

Ferris wheels are named after George W. Ferris, a US engineer from Pittsburgh, who built the first one for the World Expo in Chicago in 1893. Expo visitors found unexpected excitement and novelty. Not only the Ferris wheel but the amazing new wonder that ran it—electricity—were presented for the first time in America.
