Episode 1/25

@ Scarlet Pathway
Buddy and Grace are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!
Scarlet Pathway
As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
Buddy was in a hurry to move along and shake some more paws, but Cheeky decided to stay where he was for a while, and sketch the scenery for this week's Art Challenge!

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Buddy normally avoided tourist hotspots but he was glad he had come, especially since meeting his friend KazeFluff here!

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
“What an amazing view!” exclaimed Buddy after shaking paws with Snarky, who agreed with him. Buddy was excited to meet up again with Snarky. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
The quiet and serenity of the next scene made Buddy and Jeff feel like they were the only pets left in PnF Land ...

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
“These are great as a cake flavouring,” said Buddy.
“You can add it to savoury dishes as well. It’s very versatile,” observed Sasha.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
“Hey, Lyra!” called out Buddy. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”
Lyra was glad to rest and enjoy the food Buddy shared with her.

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“Isn’t this amazing, Choose a name?” declared Buddy. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Trixie and Buddy, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Buddy. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Buddy to Thimbl.

“Great to meet you again, Jade!” said Buddy. “Come and have some of this farm-grown organic food—it’s absolutely yummy!”

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Lady" said Buddy. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Buddy! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
Buddy tumbled out of the Autumn Experience tourist bus, almost flattening POPPE in the process, then he wondered where the muffled groans were coming from!

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

Buddy and Silky had shaken paws and took some time to enjoy the super view in a companionable silence!

“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Buddy.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Odyssey.

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

"Tigger, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Buddy.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Tiana.
"Well," said Buddy, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Buddy," said Bones, "for this experience alone?" Buddy, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

@ Purple Leaf with Raindrops
"This is a glorious specimen, Tallulah", observed Buddy. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Buddy?" said Tallulah. "Buy a garden gnome!"

Buddy was excited by seeing all the different harvest produce. “I’m going to apply for an allotment and start growing my own food!” he announced to star, when they met and shook paws.

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Buddy.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Amelia.

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

"Nothing, Buddy. This scene is flawless!"

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Buddy is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Midnite comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Midnite. Buddy looks down and sees something valuable. Midnite generously lets Buddy keep it!
