Shirley steps off the boat onto Aegis with fellow traveller PHOENIX. Time for a look around, but first a long stretch after the voyage!

This rocky bay provides the perfect place for anypet to rest, play with the numerous pebbles and watch the changing patterns of sunlight on the stone outcrops and distant peaks, or perhaps to dip a cautious paw into the unceasing sea waves running in and back out.

Shirley and SHINE were so busy gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to finish shaking paws before changeover!

Anypet will enjoy exploring the sand dunes with their sharply pointed grey-green leaves and large spikes of creamy-yellow flowers of marram grass in the summer, the backdrop to a sandy beach and the sea.

This beautiful little bay is irresistible to pets who can’t wait to scamper or flap over the golden sand to get to the top of the stony peninsula and gaze far out to the horizon over the sea.

Shirley tumbled out of the tourist bus, flattening Sheba in the process, then wondering where the muffled groans were coming from?

A feat of engineering that certainly stands out in the countryside. It’s a place to stop and dream of where the trains thundering past will be going!

The tranquility of the scene they had stumbled across made Shirley and Muschi feel like they were the only pets left in PnF Land...

Shirley asked Toto if he had a fur clip on him, as Shirley wanted to fashion a fishing pole and stop to dangle a line...?

This bay is just the place for an early morning excursion beside the sea; a peaceful place to share with the scavenging birds; ideal for contemplation.

While Shirley thinks the scenery is lovely, she wonders where PlumPea intends to set up camp?

Shirley and Spirit pool their small change, hoping to buy some small souvenirs to remind them of this place!

As birds fly home to roost and busy pets retire for the night, the West Pasture in Aegis becomes darker and quiet in the setting sun, waiting for the first stirrings from nocturnal pets who are active during the night.

Of all the pets Shirley might have met here, Nightlight was the last she expected. But what a great view!

Shirley had to travel on alone, as Cuckoo declared she had found her nirvana, and had no intention of moving on!

While Shirley thinks the scenery is lovely, she wonders where Foxie intends to set up camp?

On Sunday afternoons, many pets take an excursion in the formal gardens, which display the Dutch influence of bright tulips making a fine splash of colour against the immaculate lawn.

Shirley gazed around in awe, while Sunshine mumbled and grumbled about Shirley's shortcut being no shortcut at all, if the blisters on her paws were anything to go by!

@ Island: Aegis
Shirley finally makes it back to the landing stage, where Foxy Rex is also about to embark and go home. What an adventure it has been! Shirley pockets a map of Aegis as a momento. The guidebook says:

When their vessel carefully manoeuvres past the rocks to reach the landing stage, the pets can jump out and explore this delightful little island. There are beautiful, relaxing sandy beaches, rocky hills to climb, a viaduct and old castle ruin to explore, green pastures to take a picnic hamper, woods and forests to ramble in, rivers to jump over, apples to pick and there are flowers galore!
