@ Sled Dog in Training
Diamond and lily monet have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

Episode 2/27

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
“Seeing these places makes me want to stay here and spend a week or two, Diamond,” remarked Rockstar. "It looks so different!"
"Well, I guess that's the point of travel, isn't it?" said Diamond. "To broaden your horizons and so on."
Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
Diamond and miniyao shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

Snowy Bench
Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

@ Fox on the Prowl
"This is fabulous, Mae" enthused Diamond. "I'll have this photo printed and framed and display it next to my plush seal that I got in the little gift shop near Snow Beach and the model of St Basil's Cathedral from Icon!"
"You'll have a fine collection of mementos, Diamond!" said Mae.

Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
Astrid and Diamond were musing on the concept of hygge.
“Is the reason there's no word for this in English because England is a cold, damp little island with an awful train service?"
Diamond considered this. "Well, they could still go indoors out of the rain and curl up in an armchair with a good book and stuff."

The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

@ Squirrel in the Snow
“Pass me the binoculars, Diamond!” said Mrs. Dylan. "I think that's a Canada goose just taking off over there!"

I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

@ Snowy Cabin in the Forest
“I was pretending to be an Arctic explorer in the husky sled on the way here, Diamond,” revealed Svaha.
"Is that why you kept yelling: 'Mush! Mush!' at them?" asked Diamond. "Hey, what would happen if you shouted the wrong command and they suddenly did a U-turn?"
"I reckon we'd all be flung out headfirst into the nearest snowdrift," grinned Svaha.

The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

@ Frosty-Nosed Welcome
“Ooh, it's just starting to get a bit cold, Diamond!” said Schnupfen. “Can you hold my gloves and map while I dig out my scarf?"
Diamond good-naturedly took charge of Schnupfen's possessions while she emptied her rucksack of a pack of sandwiches, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of toffees, a paperback novel, a bottle of mineral water, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old train tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some shopping receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and tomato ketchup before locating the scarf right at the bottom. This she donned and then Diamond helped her put everything back in her rucksack.

Rosa shook her head from side to side. "My ears are ringing from the huskies barking!" she said.
“Yes, such an energetic, enthusiastic bunch! A fun ride, though!" replied Diamond.

The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

“You know, this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, Diamond!” said Midnight.
"It's very nice indeed—but you never know, the next leg of the tour might be even better!" said Diamond.

An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

@ Snowy Owl Solo
“If there's time at the end when we get back to our accommodation, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," chendler said, offering Diamond a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for himself.
“That sounds like a good plan, chendler!" said Diamond. "And very in keeping with the hygge theme!"

A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

Asparagus was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Diamond unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Asparagus’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Asparagus. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”

Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

@ Winter Guardian
“I'm already looking forward to tonight's hot drink by the fire, Diamond,” said Blástjarna.
"Hey, a snowshoe expedition will warm you up!" replied Diamond.

A faithful guardian sits at the ready to protect his territory. No critter may pass into his wintry realm without first getting by his watchful eye.

“How do you talk to a bunch of pine trees all at once, Diamond?" grinned Chica.
"How?" asked Diamond guardedly.
"On a coniference call!"

A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.

Anything you could possibly want for your hot cocoa is in this handy tray. I'm just going to pile mine high with marshmallows and a piece of dark chocolate candy.
